Wood Stains & Sealers Q&A

Should I use this if I can't seal in all sides of the pressboard? I have a couch, and some of the surfaces are covered by fabric or are so internal that I can't get to them. Will it help if I only can partially seal the surfaces, or will that just prolong off gassing by not allowing the pressboard to offgas in all directions? View answer

I am trying to prevent off gassing in a box truck with a wooden floor. The truck was used as an automotive service vehicle, so oil spillage and potentially other automotive chemicals spilled on the wooden floor of the box. Will this product be sufficient to protect me if I treat the floors with it? I would be inside for hours at a time (I'm a technician and this truck would be my mobile workshop). View answer

My husband and I are planning a kitchen remodel and are considering putting in butcher block or wood countertops. We've never had wood countertops before and in doing some research found out that there can be a lot of upkeep with oiling monthly. We are also concerned about water damage to the wood around the sink area, or from someone leave a glass of water on the counter that may have some water on the bottom of the glass. Do you have a food-safe product that is also powerful enough for kitchen countertops to handle water and liquids? We may be good at trying to quickly wipe up water from the counter, but kids are another story! Also, how often would it need to be reapplied in the future after the initial application? View answer

If I just want to preserve the appearance of the exterior of my redwood garden boxes and not concern myself with preserving the interior, could I just use this product and not need to put the AFM Safecoat Dynoseal on the interior? Do I need to be concerned with this product leaching any chemicals into the soil without the interior coating? View answer

I'm wondering how "semi-transparent" this product is... I need to restain/seal my backyard fence that is older and has different colors to it based on where previous shrubs blocked water from hitting the fence. I am not sure how a clear would look in this situation, but I also don't want my fence to look like I painted it brown; I like seeing the natural grain of the wood. I'm debating between the Caspian Clear and the Acorn Brown. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you! View answer

Hi. I read one of these answers wrong I think. I'm working on a butcher block countertop. I was planning on using this product. I already have now. But now I've decided I need to stain the countertop. Is it possible to use Rubio Monocoat 2C Oil stain on the wood and apply this on top for extra protection? TIA for your help. View answer
