We had PVC trim installed and the off-gassing is terrible. We were hoping for a sealer that we could paint over. It doesn't seem possible with this after all. Can we instead paint the PVC with zero VOC water-based latex paint and then apply the hardcoat sealer over top?? View answer

Hi, I'm wondering if this product could be used to protect from off-gassing from a linoleum floor? The finish has worn off due to faulty cleaning, and is now off-gassing. we'd prefer to not change the floor entirely. Would this or another product help seal the off-gassing, and could it be used on organic materials such as linoleum? (don't want to risk microbial growth). Thanks a lot! View answer

Hi- I usually buy only non toxic furniture but recently bought a small table made of mdf and veneer. I do chemical sensitivities so I can't do off gassing. What product in specific can I use to seal in the vocs such as formaldehyde? One table I bought is white and the other is a mirrored glass table bottom (that probably has wood on the inside). I deal with chronic illness so the air quality is of utmost importance. Please let me know! View answer

I'm creating closet shelves with raw MDF boards. I'm concerned about formaldehyde off-gassing from the MDF. How to incorporate the odor-blocking sealants into my workflow? Apply AFM Safecoat Hard Seal (or is Safe Seal better here?) on the raw MDF, wait for sealer to dry, then apply primer and cabinet paint? Or apply primer and cabinet paint first, then apply the AFM Hard Seal as the final layer? I need the final finish to be durable and ideally a semi-gloss texture. Thank you View answer

I am looking for a product for my new raw butcher block countertop that will not yellow or amber the wood. I know you usually recommend the penetrating oil for this purpose but when testing a sample piece of wood with mineral oil we did not love the yellow look of the wood. I assume any of the natural hemp oils/blends will do the same. I read online I need a water based sealer or finish. Which would be the safest to do so? We will not be cutting on the surface or eating directly off of it. I am also looking at your Acrylaq. Thank you for your help! Rebecca View answer
