I want to paint and seal some acoustic ceiling tiles in the bathroom. The paint will be water-based. Will Safecoat Hardcoat adhere to this painted surface? If I have to choose between painting them and sealing them as is (I believe they have already been painted or coated with something as they are white) I will just seal them! Thank You! View answer

Hi! I run an eco-friendly Etsy shop and I'd like to make earrings out of cold porcelain air drying clay as opposed to polymer clay but I need it to be waterproof, what products would you suggest? & Would I be Dipping the clay "charms" in the sealant or would brushing be better for my purpose? I have a solid wood birch desk, it is finished but the grommet holes are not. I have sample of soft seal and hard seal. I know soft seal is not recommended on solid wood, but hard seal is? Would it be ok to use hard seal to protect these grommet holes or would I need to get sample of polyureseal bp? Which smells more? View answer

I believe the hard seal that I ordered from a different company that was closer to me. Let it freeze during shipping. I put it on wood items and it's cloudy and uneven. Does this mean that the product is no longer usable? I don't mind using it in a garage cabinet if it's still going to work to block off gassing and give a good seal over the cabinet. Next time, I'll buy it from you and work out the longer wait time to receive it. View answer

I have an old deck with mildew etc. I am planning on sanding the deck then cleaning then applying GSDR. I would like a cedar or dark red color. Can I paint over GSDR? I painted my laminate formica countertops with a paint kit. it's holding up well, but the glossy finish is showing wear and scuffs. I'd like to take it to a matte or satin finish, but the paint kit company only offers gloss. If I sand with a fine grit and dull the surface, can I use this to reseal? How durable is it? View answer

I purchased new furniture about six weeks ago. My roommate is reacting to it and we think it may be the undersides of the tables and chairs which are painted but feel rough to the touch. The tops of the tables and chairs seem fine. Would it work to use the Safecoat Hard Seal on the undersides over a layer of paint, or would the whole table need to be treated? I am putting in a western red cedar tongue and groove ceiling in our campervan: approximately 6' wide and 10'long. How much might I need (wondering if I should get smaller cans vs. The larger ones) and is this the best product to use for this application? Looking at buying a home with knotty pine paneling, flooring, and cabinets. The previous owner smoked and the smell is lingering throughout the home. I've applied an oil based poly to my wood floors. it's humid in my locale and I've had an issue with moisture in the subfloor during the summer. I was told I need to apply a breathable finish (after I take up the oil poly) and that water based poly is more permeable. Is the Monocoat breathable? Is it more vapor permeable than water based poly? View answer

Hi I found an empty birds nest (slightly broken with broken piece within range) outside this fall on the sidewalk.. I determined that this nest is abandoned and not reusable to any birds. I'd like to preserve this nest somehow will this material be useful in that process ? The nest is made of tree branches and mud. I have put it in a plastic bag for some time then I will take it out and attempt to cure/dry it. Once I am done it will remain indoors Thanks View answer

We are thinking about using caramel brown rolled bamboo (Forever Bamboo or Backyard X-capes) for our fences. The manufacturer recommends applying their "specially formulated TWP [Total Wood Protector] with UV Inhibitors", but the MDS says that it is "toxic to fish" and has a maximum coating VOC of 250 grams/liter. I just applied this product to my cedar deck and I am having trouble with the sheen. Where the sections overlapped there is a thin line of sheen that is different than the rest. Is there anything that I can do about it, it doesn't look the greatest and unfortunately while I love most everything about this product I'm wishing I had used an oil.
