What finish do you recommend for keeping pine floors as light as possible? Our 110 plus year old floors are old growth pine that show their nails (from being refinished too many times, by previous owners.) We would prefer to keep the light honey color of pine, and avoid too much darkening while at the same time preserving these antique floors, with a repairable finish if possible. View answer

Im confused...to the lady who stated she had a piece of furniture that is part solid wood part particle board. it was recommended to her to use the AFM hard seal...however when i read about hard seal it says not to use on particle board...?So what is recommended for furniture pieces that are composed of 2 different materials including these? I am looking to seal what appear to be MDF boards that have been used for the drawer bottoms and back of a new dresser against formaldehyde off-gassing. The boards have a shiny surface--only the edges are raw. I don't know whether this is a feature of MDF or whether they have been coated with acrylic. I recall that you said there's no difference between Safe Seal and Hard Seal when it comes to reducing off gassing... that the only difference is the finish... did I understand that correctly?
