What is the material used for the bottom of IKEA dresser drawers? It is almost paperlike with a very spongy porous bottom. Will this work for that? They lined the top with white liner. I put safeseal on the bottom sides and it absorbed it right up. Now it's a darker color. The dresser itself is pure pine so I didn't' think there would be smell. But there is a very sawdusty smell with the dresser in the room and it increases when opening the drawers so I suspect it is from the drawer bottoms. There is still smell. Will additional coats help? Or will it just ruin the papery material? View answer

I am removing old vinyl tile flooring from the 1980's that was glued down with a black adhesive that has an incredibly strong chemical odor. It doesn't contain asbestos, we had it tested. The subfloor is plywood. The smell is definitely coming from the adhesive because there is no smell at all until the flooring comes up. Can we apply the Hard Seal over the adhesive that's stuck to the subfloor to encapsulate the chemical off-gassing before installing the new wood floor? The last thing I want is for some horrible chemical reaction between this product and the adhesive. (Unfortunately we do have to remove the vinyl flooring rather than lay the new wood flooring over it because it's so uneven.) View answer

Does the tint of the stain make the wood look painted? I have weathered cedar pickets--some are very grey. About 25 years ago, when I applied boiled linseed oil to aged-grey pickets, it brought out the natural grains without a painted look. However, I am opposed to using a toxic product. I am trying to figure out if I should use the PolyWhey in a brownish color or the waterproofer; the challenge is I don't want a painted look, but I also want to revive the aged-grey pickets and restore some natural color. I am scrubbing the sheetrock and studs with safe choice cleaner and thought it a good idea to use 'safe seal' as a final step to help rid any odors from mice urine. Can this (or Forbo commercial gloss finish) be applied to new Marmoleum for the specific purpose of achieving a higher gloss? I understand that topshield2 does not require additional finish for surface protection. I am simply looking to achieve higher gloss on the Marmoleum Cocoa (without compromising it's durability).
