Wood Stains & Sealers Q&A

Can I wait a day between applying the first and second coat of Deck Revive? I live in a warm climate and have likely missed the window of opportunity for handling all the steps in a single day (permabond, quickcrete, two coats of deck revive). I will have about three hours in the morning that i can work before the deck is above 85 degrees. I think I can get the primer and first coat on, but would need to wait until evening or the next day to apply the second coat. Will this work? View answer

I have old engineered 3 ply tongue and groove floor tiles from the 1960s and recently had bug bombs set off in the house which of course left the residue on the floor soo I had it cleaned with Castile soap and water but the guys doing the cleaning in the living room used a little too much soap and water in the living room so not much finish left there. I will be moving into the house in a couple of weeks or less . Of main concern to me is that I have 3 cats and I want a hard wax oil that is not toxic at all for my cats as I am 65 years old and they are all I have left that I love. What do you recommend with all things considered to seal about 450 square ft ?Thank you View answer

I'd like to try a sample of BioShield wood counter finish. I have an old oak table with all the finish worn off. We wash it all the time and the kids play on it with their clay, etc. We would like to roll out pie crust on it, etc. And would like to wash it without the water soaking into the wood. Do you have a better recommendation? View answer

Hi, I have a couple questions. One is this considered a resin at all? Two I have cabinets that someone paint over with no primer the paint looks good and I don't want to redo but if your nail hits it its peels easy. Would one of the products works to seal it to prevent the paint from coming off? Thank you View answer

I have a small home office in my garage. The bottom 10 inches of two walls are concrete, which has been painted over in a high quality standard white paint. 3-4 months after construction and after many days of ventilation, the office still reeks of fumes when the door has been closed more than an hour. I have isolated the smell to the paint on the concrete. While it is very dry to touch, it has moisture coming through the porous concrete. I stumbled upon your product and want to try to seal the smell. What product is optimal for ending off-gassing in this case--over paint which is over concrete? View answer

I recently purchased a custom camper-van conversion. It has lots of wooden cabinets that were built with plywood and then finished with paint. There is also a wooden ceiling and wooden countertops that were stained. All the products used were water based but it has a strong toxic odor. Would this be the right product to use to abate the off gassing? View answer

Hi there, I am looking for a sealer to seal wooden dough bowls that will be made into candles. My questions are, does this product seal wood? If so, once I make the candle and burn it, would toxic or harmful odors be released into the air from the sealer? I need a sealer that seals wood, is non toxic once it gets heated and is fire safe.Thank you View answer

I have a room with asbestos tile. I would like to use it as a sewing and embroidery room. I would like to keep the tile safely. Could I use a sealant on the surface to make it safer? I don't want to disturb it, but am wondering if the vibration of the sewing machines would cause fibers to dislodge? View answer

I'm in the process of using lead encapsulation paint to cover my antique window frames, however the paint I need to use is very matte similar to primer, so I'm looking for something to put on top of this lead encapsulation paint that has a gloss. What products would work? Could I use just Ecos gloss paint or would a gloss top coat like the Safecoat hardseal be better? View answer
