Hi. We are rebuilding our deck and are using redwood posts (4X4 from Home Depot) that we would like to keep looking as natural as possible while at the same time protecting them from rain, sun and wind. What different products should we use? We love the look of natural redwood and would like to keep it like that as much as possible. How often should we reapply these products? We live in a desert kind of climate (hot summers, cold winters, pretty dry). We are also not crazy about toxic products. View answer

I am looking for some moisture protection on my new interior maple wood sills, with the purpose being better able to keep plant pots on them without water damaging the wood. 1) How helpful would this product be if the plants are in terracotta pots? 2) Can it be applied over your hard oil # 9? We just built a butcher block table out of an old piece of a bar top which has a strong paraffin odor. We have used mineral oil and a lavender essential oil to reduce the odor. It helped a little but not enough to enjoy the table in the house. Will this product keep that odor under wraps? View answer

We just had a mahogany deck installed. We would like to protect it and ideally preserve its reddish color rather than have it go silver-gray. We want to use a non-toxic product. What would you recommend? How frequently should we apply it. This deck gets a lot of sun exposure. View answer

Found your company on the internet, got a bunk bed delivered about a week ago with a strong chemical smell. I researched it and the smell seems to be coming from the unfinished bed slats. They appear to be plywood and since the bed was made in Vietnam, I'm concerned they didn't have a standard regarding formaldehyde. I can't return the bed - all sales final. Do you think I could use one of your sealers to seal it? What product would you suggest and what quantity would I need? View answer

I purchased three 4 slot mail/paper organizers from Amazon. The seller says they are made of: "100% Natural Bamboo, Made of superior phyllostachys heterocycla (a kind of bamboo), real material, Not synthetic wood ;renewable and eco-conscious resources." They have an unpleasant smell. I can't tell if they shipped with a stain or sealer (natural looking) so don't know if the smell is from a coating or the material itself. I want to seal it to eliminate the off-gassing. Which Safecoat product do you recommend? View answer

We have a White Oak outdoor dining table that we just finished and are struggling with how to finish it. The person who built it suggested polyurethane for spar varnish. Our concerns are weather durability for hot sun and rain, food and drink spills, And we prefer a flat finish if possible. We live in California or the sun is hot! And we don't want to stress about water rings on the table... Would this be a good alternative to the options above? View answer

Im looking to seal art made up of many different types of materials (wood, paper, paint, metal, everything...) - I'm looking for it to be crystal clear and not have much in way of harmful chemicals. I realize this product isn't it since it looks like it's for mainly wood - any suggestions on an all purpose clear sealant that's also archival? Thanks in advance! View answer
