I'm interested in sealing OSB subfloor (prevent/arrest off gassing), but the tackiness of SafeSeal will potentially/likely make installation of the Pergo click-lock flooring difficult. I'm looking at HardSeal and Polyureseal BP as other options. Any recommendations here? View answer

I saw a video regarding the difference in color between the AFM SafeCoat Polyureseal BP sheens (gloss is milky white, clear, and the satin and (I assume) matte are colored. The video states that they both dry clear, but the satin and matte may "build up" a color on the surface if more than one coat is used. Here is my question: will the Acrylacq in matte also do this? Is it clear or "muddy" like the satin/matte Polyureseal BP? I have white kitchen cabinets that I want to keep a matte sheen, but not change the color with several coats of sealer. View answer

Since this is a low VOC product and not VOC free, doesn't it also emit at least low levels of VOCs into the air and if so, is there a timeline for it to stop? I would like to use this product over a "low VOC" finish on the interior of a buffet cabinet that is still off-gassing (the exterior is not), even after sitting in an open-air screened in porch for 8 months. it's lacquer finish is supposedly a low VOC product. Hi. I read one of these answers wrong I think. I'm working on a butcher block countertop. I was planning on using this product. I already have now. But now I've decided I need to stain the countertop. Is it possible to use Rubio Monocoat 2C Oil stain on the wood and apply this on top for extra protection? TIA for your help. View answer

How easy is this to use on pine? It states above : "NOTE 2: Soft woods like pine are very porous and often appear splotchy unless sanded and treated properly by professionals." So if I sand it, would it still be blotchy because a professional has an extra step that they would do? View answer

We have a White Oak outdoor dining table that we just finished and are struggling with how to finish it. The person who built it suggested polyurethane for spar varnish. Our concerns are weather durability for hot sun and rain, food and drink spills, And we prefer a flat finish if possible. We live in California or the sun is hot! And we don't want to stress about water rings on the table... Would this be a good alternative to the options above? View answer

We like how our exterior door looks with a simple coat of linseed oil but want to protect it further. Can a clear Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Exterior Wood Protector be applied on top of wood previously treated with linseed oil? Is there a time period to wait since the linseed oil was first applied or would this product not be compatible with linseed oil? Thanks in advance! View answer

Hello, used 2 coats on teak and mahogany bench swing...love the product, the way it goes on, no awful smell all great. Question: I noticed after several weeks the wood grain was raised considerably and felt dry. We tested with water and it does bead up. Is it typical for the grain to raise after application? I am ordering Rubio Monocoat for my hardwood floors. I have a few questions. I am interested in purchasing the raw wood cleaner and the natural soap that is recommended in the application instructions. I don't think they are available on your site. Do you have alternate products that you recommend? Also, are the application and buffer pads that you show the regular nylon pads that would come with the floor buffer that I would rent? Lastly, I'm mixing two colors 1/2 and 1/2. If I store the extra - will it sit ok with the colors mixed together, or should I only mix them in each batch as I go, the way I'd mix in the step 2 oil. I know. This is an art project and I'm on my own. But, I thought I'd just ask in case. Thank you so much. View answer

My husband did not want to buy an extra long baby gate, so he made one. The problem is, it won't be helpful because it's got splintering areas and I will just be constantly keeping the baby away from the gate. Is there any non toxic finish I can apply to it in order to prevent the splintering? View answer

working in a very old building (historic); the floor is over an old cellar style basement. Original hardwood floor was covered with 1/2" masonite underlayment. There is a distinct old smell either coming from the basement or resident in the underlayment. Could remove underlayment, but smell will definitely come through now exposed numerous old flooring joints. Considering sealing in the underlayment with a product like this. Whatever we use needs to not only penetrate, but for a layer or coating. What do you think? View answer

Does this yellow over time or will it yellow white painted cabinets? I will test beforehand but if a different product is better for using over newly painted white cabinets so that it doesn't yellow over time would love go know before I use. I will sample a piece beforehand so just let me know! View answer
