I have cedar railings on my deck. About 8 years ago (when my contractor was dying) he sent a workman to put a sealant on the railings. It looked great for about a month and then grew black mold. If I sand the railings lightly, will your penetrating water proofer / sealer do the job without growing another crop of black mold? Or do I need a fungicidal wash to start? View answer

Is this the best product to prevent cracking on Bamboo poles? I purchased Vermont Natural Coatings, Exterior, Penetrating Waterproofer and applied to Bamboo poles. I sealed outside and inside of Bamboo poles. but it did not prevent cracking after I put water inside the Bamboo pole. Thus, I'm looking for a product:1) Strong waterproof sealing that prevents Bamboo poles to absorb water.2) Prevents cracking on Bamboo poles. I would be appreciated if you give me the answer. Hi. We are rebuilding our deck and are using redwood posts (4X4 from Home Depot) that we would like to keep looking as natural as possible while at the same time protecting them from rain, sun and wind. What different products should we use? We love the look of natural redwood and would like to keep it like that as much as possible. How often should we reapply these products? We live in a desert kind of climate (hot summers, cold winters, pretty dry). We are also not crazy about toxic products. View answer

Hi, I'm looking to use a sealer on our newly bought outdoor patio table which is made from a lightweight polyresin blend with a concrete powder (according to the manufacturer). Which product would you recommend? The manufacturer claims it already has pretty good protection however oils could in some cases cause stains. View answer

I have several samples of Marmoleum Cocoa that I like very much but would prefer a much higher gloss sheen. Can this (or Forbo commercial gloss finish) be applied to new Marmoleum for the specific purpose of achieving a higher gloss? I understand that topshield2 does not require additional finish for surface protection. I am simply looking to achieve higher gloss on the Marmoleum Cocoa (without compromising it's durability). If not this product, what could be used to gloss up satin Marmoleum. Thanks. View answer

I need to seal in the off gassing from an IKEA particle board kitchen cabinet thats got melamine foil on the outside and plastic edging. Would this product be the best or would another product work better? It also needs to be durable and provide a waterproof barrier against atmospheric moisture (its in an RV) and water spills from the sink thats above it. Mold and mildew protection in addition would be ideal. Thank you. View answer
