I have some bare drywall that appears to be outgassing in a new bedroom. I'm chemically sensitive and would like to try your SafeCoat transitional primer to seal the drywall, then paint over with your Safecoat zero VOC flat. Would this work? I am looking for the best options for a finish on a painted pine wood floor. There will be a few layers of paint on the floor (likely a no VOC water based paint, followed by a milk paint or some such) and I need something that will create a durable surface that shoes and high heels won't mar. I have a Hot Dipped Galvanized Metal dog kennel, can I apply two AFM Safecoat products to, a base coat of AFM SafeCoat, MetalCoat Metal Primer (as a base-layer) with 2 top-coats of AFM SafeCoat, All Purpose Exterior Satin, Custom Color Paint? I know AFM SafeCoat Transitional Primer works with the All Purpose Exterior Satin, though I wonder if MetalCoat is better for this? The kennels going to be revamped as a catio & kept outside throughout the seasons; with a very free-draining mixed-aggregate/Geocell ground grid & stone-flagger topped patio with a Corten steel border to serve as base pedestal. Would this be the combo I need to ensure that the kennel can have extra layers of materials life and will resist the elements year round? View answer

I lost my home in the N. California Valley wildfire, 7 months ago. I purchased a new home and I can't be on the deck during the day, because heat from the sun reactivates the oil-based stain on the deck, making me ill. I've chemical allergies, especially to oil-based stains (triggering Asthma). I've stripped some of the oil off (using citrus-based natural stripper - SafeStrip) and need to cover the deck with a barrier to reduce outgassing of the oil-based stain residuals, protect the wood, not outgas after it cures. Would Deck Revive and PermaBond create a barrier to block the residual oils from reactivating when heated by the high noon sun? Do you have any suggestion on ways of stripping oil-based stain not using toxic chemicals? View answer

Is SafeCoat suitable for painting a kitchen floor? I have a small kitchen with uneven floors--old fir with a Varathane finish that is now worn, nasty and ugly. The floor is so broken up and the space is small so I don't want to go through the expense of re-flooring with wood--just want color and a clean look. View answer

I'm looking for a paint for a basement concrete floor that has a vapor barrier under half and no barrier under the other half. The basement is dry, but close to the water table, so water will puddle in a couple of low areas (+/- 1/4" deep) from heavy rains a few times a year (mostly in the area that has the vapor barrier underneath). There's no efflorescence so far and it drys well afterwards. Is this paint breathable enough to not bubble up and not cause problems by preventing vapor coming up through the slab? View answer

The wall-to-wall carpet and padding in our lower-level living area developed a musty smell shortly after receiving six inches of rain within two hours. The carpet and pad were removed and discarded. The base floor is untreated concrete slab and we found no visual sign of mold, mildew or water entry on concrete slab or carpet/pad. Cleaning the floor with soap and water and running multiple dehumidifiers for 2 weeks eliminated the odor. We then applied Concrobium mold control (to be safe). We'd like to seal the concrete to prevent moisture vapor from migrating through the concrete in the future. The folks at AFM recommended using MexeSeal for this purpose. As you carry both MexeSeal and Green Building Supply Sealer. Which product do we use? View answer

Looking at the PermaBond/DeckRevive combo to fix weathered front step and back porch (100+ year-old house). Paint on the wooden railings is flaking / deck boards are chipping heavily.1. The instructions say you mix both products with a gallon of paint. If I use both PermaBond & DeckRevive, do you mix PermaBond with paint, or just Deck Revive as that's the final coat?2. Can I use stain instead of a paint? I'll paint the railing white, but I'd rather stain/seal the floor boards.3. Will I need to use another sealer after these two are applied?4. Do you have a product that can repair rotten wood? I've used epoxies (toxic?) before. Instead of replacing the rotten wood, I wondered if there were small job alternatives (like railings/window sills) View answer

We had two new energy efficient furnaces both installed with IQAIR filters. The technicians used High VOC sealants and glues. it's been 5 weeks and it's still strong and offensive. Can I use one of your VOC blocking sealants on PVC pipes and glue beads? Which product would you recommend? View answer

We had a leak and mold in the walls in the bathroom/bedroom and it was professionally remediated but I still smell the mold and am affected by it. Before fixing the walls, I was going to just paint the studs with this but just saw in Q&A to use a primer first. I was thinking it would be better if the Caliwell touched the wood to kill any spores/mold deep in it left behind and maybe coat it twice. Is this good or will the primer followed by this work best? I am going to use this in a basement. The subfloor/ceiling is rough sawn cedar and sanding would be labor intensive, we are not able to do that and would just rather paint over them as is. There are stains from mold that was treated with concrobium, and we want to use either the coating or primer over it. We will likely use a bright white paint over the first coat but are undecided about that at this point. What would you recommend we use? The contractors we had out to look were going to use a toxic encapsulation coating after mold removal and we want to be sure the mold is not just sandwiched, but gone. View answer
