We built a new granny unit and want to paint the concrete floors. Masterlife 300-C was used in the admixture. It forms a crystalline structure within the concrete preventing water penetration. Would your Safecoat Concrete Floor Paint adhere to this surface and if not could you suggest or recommend some other treatment? View answer

Dry chemistry components do not breakdown completely. Following Instructions Mixed components in 65 degree shop after having set for several days in 60 degree plus space. Added liquid together with exterior gloss acrylic paint. Stirred liquids for several minutes. Added dry components gradually while mixing, continued mixing. Mixed for 10 minutes and found the mix grainy as though there was sand in mix. Let mix set for 20 minutes and remixed, I mixed with drill driven mixer for 15 minutes more. Still grainy. Applied to deck and rails. Result was rough sandpaper finish. Disappointed. Rails too rough to rest bare arms on and deck too rough for kids to want to run and play on. I've used three kits and results all the same. What's wrong? View answer

Does AFM SafeCoat, Concrete Floor Paint block formaldehyde emissions? At first I was looking at AFM Safecoat Safeseal to put on part of the concrete floor to seal in formaldehyde, but that's only for plywood type surfaces apparently. But I liked that one because it blocked/sealed formaldehyde 100% and was very low VOC (around 22). View answer

We are having our varnished solid wood cabinets sanded, primed and painted. I have previously oiled them. Our contractor said we need a high bond primer. Would any of the AFM Safecoat primers work? The paint will be water based, probably AFM Safecoat. Which paint would you recommend also? View answer

Is this clear or white? I'm looking to CLEAR SEAL only the 'slide-out' luan walls in my RV bedroom against moisture, mildew, and potential VOC emissions. Would 3 coats of this work (IF it's clear) since the AFM Safecoat Zero VOC paint does not come in clear? Or what is recommended for this purpose (I don't want to cover the 'wallpaper look' that matches the rest of the walls I won't be sealing.) View answer

AFM Safecoat information states "For raw wood surfaces, use AFM's Ecolacq Sandable Primer."OSB generally counts as "raw wood", so should the AFM Ecolacq Sandable Primer be used? More specifically, for stud framing, should the Ecolacq Sandable Primer be used before CaliWel? View answer

We are planning to paint out old farmhouse in the spring. We will be painting over aluminum siding that was installed in the late 70s. it's been painted several times over the years, but it is chalky and fading. What do we need to do to prep the aluminum, and then what products would we use to prime and paint (and how many coats of each would you recommend for aluminum)? View answer

We have a crawl space that smells musty, but see no mold. It is very dry, and also has a crawl space dehumidifier. The floor/walls are sealed with plastic and insulation. But the musty smell is still there, and has permeated the room above. Would this help with that odor, if I treated the floor joists with it? Or should I also treat the foundation under the insulation? Last summer I sprayed it all with bac-a-zap but that didn't seem to do anything. View answer

I have a shelving/storage unit in our mudroom (hanging coats, shoe storage, etc.) that I want to paint. I am pregnant and trying to be extra cautious with paint and primers. What do you recommend I use to initially prime the shelving unit and then which paint type to purchase? Does a specific paint type go with a specific primer? Do I need to "seal" anything with a different product once I'm done painting? Thank you. View answer
