Question: Can this be applied/ put directly on top of silicone?
Answer: AFM's technical head said that bonding to a silicone is very tricky. He also said it wouldn't bond properly, as the silicone has a petroleum in it and the water based products that AFM has won't bond to the surface.
Question: I'd like to set 6x6 western red cedar posts 3 feet into the ground. I'll fill the 3-feet hole with gravel and concrete. If I coat the below-ground part of the 6x6 post, would dynoseal be effective in keeping moisture away even if the posts are encased in concrete?
Answer: Yes, the Dynoseal would be the correct product for your application.
Question: It says surface should be dry and clean. What would you use to clean 1) concrete (just soap and water or does it need to be acid etched?), 2) outside green mildew on foundation stucco siding (bleach or power wash or both?) thanks
Answer: Dynoseal is topical type coating and does not require acid etching. Just simple cleaning of any previous coatings, mold, moss, fungus or mildew. Powerwash for sure and let dry for 24 hours.
Question: What kind of adhesives would stick to this? I see that you can use thinset and tile over, but we are using a stone veneer product for our shower walls and need to glue it up. A two part epoxy adhesive is what is recommended by the manufacturer of the veneer. Would an epoxy based adhesive adhere to this product?
Answer: In this situation, we would not recommend using DynoSeal. We would recommend the following steps.First use Thinset, then put Schluter-KERDI onto the Thinset.Schluter-KERDI is a waterproofing membrane for tile and stone. You could then use the epoxy-based adhesive to attach your stone veneer.
Question: Will DynoSeal adhere to bare aluminum? The aluminum will be below the soil in a raised bed garden.
Answer: DynoSeal should adhere to bare aluminum. You may want to sand it very lightly first, just enough to rough up the surface for better adhesion. DynoSeal is meant to be used below the soil line.
