I have a cinder block foundation with a cement based parging that had a color added to make it black. The color turned out to be a darker grey. I ordered a sample of the Hansa Silicate and am testing a small patch on our basement foundation. I did want to ask a technical question. We have a house built in 1904. The foundation is stacked stone and has been tuck pointed. When we purchased the home, our inspector indicated we should never waterproof the walls because they need to breathe. From what I understand, this product can be painted onto the stone to help reduce the dust, but will still allow the walls to breathe. Can someone confirm? I would hate to paint all the walls and have it compromise the structural foundation, which is in fantastic shape. View answer

50 year old cinder block basement, leaky and damp. Fixed gutters and backfilled around the house, now there's no water leaking at all. Have a dehumidifier and blocks look much better. Need a breathable cinder block paint so any water in the block can evaporate (if there is any). Will this work for primer and paint work for my situation? View answer
