I have MCS and we are having no-VOC cabinets fabricated for our laundry room, which will be painted using AFM Safecoat. Should the PureBond plywood and solid wood be primed before painting with Safecoat? Would semi-gloss be best for laundry room cabinets? I have oil based paint on my cabinets and woodwork in my home. House was painted 16 years ago when I purchased it. It is now needing to be painted but I am allergic to toxic oil based paint. I have been told my cabinets should be sanded and a primer applied before painting a water based latex paint. I'm told primers That are used for this have a terrible odor when applied and I need to avoid anything with strong odors and toxic chemicals.
