I painted my laminate formica countertops with a paint kit. it's holding up well, but the glossy finish is showing wear and scuffs. I'd like to take it to a matte or satin finish, but the paint kit company only offers gloss. If I sand with a fine grit and dull the surface, can I use this to reseal? How durable is it? View answer

Looking at buying a home with knotty pine paneling, flooring, and cabinets. The previous owner smoked and the smell is lingering throughout the home. We suspect they were stained with an oil based product, along with an oil based polyurethane finish. Is there anything we can do to encapsulate the smell? View answer

Hello, I am interested in this product. Like many people here, I've recently refinished some rooms in my house with an oil based poly and the smell still isn't gone. I'd like to finish the rest with this product, but I'm worried about it not matching the rest of the floors. I have 100- year-old red oak that's being sanded and refinished. Will this finish give the floors a similar look in terms of color, to a classic poly finish? Thank you! View answer

Since this is a low VOC product and not VOC free, doesn't it also emit at least low levels of VOCs into the air and if so, is there a timeline for it to stop? I would like to use this product over a "low VOC" finish on the interior of a buffet cabinet that is still off-gassing (the exterior is not), even after sitting in an open-air screened in porch for 8 months. it's lacquer finish is supposedly a low VOC product. I've dresser drawers with an unpleasant smell when they are opened. These are solid wood for the sides and plywood for the bottom. I can't distinguish whether the smell is from the wood, or from the plywood. I want to seal it to eliminate off-gassing. I am considering various AFM Safecoat products.1. Can Polyureseal BP be used on unpainted solid wood directly? Can it be used on unpainted plywood?2. Can Hard Seal be used on unpainted solid wood directly? Can it be used on unpainted plywood?3. Can Safe Seal be applied on solid wood?I am inclined to use Polyureseal BP because the data shows that it offers better protection against off-gassing of formaldehyde, but I am not sure whether it can be applied on unfinished wood and plywood surfaces. I inherited an old house with damaged cork tile with lots of cat urine (smelly). Some of the cork tiles are ruined, soaked with urine. To add to the problem, a lot of the cats are still here; most behave, but a few don't (they are indoor cats, I plan to rehome them soon). Enzymatic odor removers work well (should work...forever? - things like Angry Orange, Rocco & Roxie Professional Strength Stain & Odor Eliminator). Can I use the Enzymatic odor remover, then apply AFM SafeCoat Polyureseal BP or other AFM sealing product (please advise which) to seal the old cork tile, and then put your waterproof cork (floating) over it. I don't want to lay your waterproof cork flooring and then smell urine. Please advise? -Beverly View answer

Hello, I have 1 gallon of the SafeCoat Polyureseal in matte and 1 gallon in satin. I will likely need to use 2 gallons for my project, 1 initial coat and then a second on top. Is it possible to mix the two gallons together and then proceed with my project, or should I use the matte first and then follow it up with the satin? View answer

Hi There, I am considering repainting my existing laminate countertops. If I am not cutting on this product, is it okay to use it on countertops? I'm specifically wondering about scratches or durability, and heat resistance (i.e. setting a hot pan on the surface). Thank you! View answer

I have willow sculptures (wooden branches) which are used as space separator. And I have to work next to them all day. By the end of the day I feel like I was eating them ) So would this finish help to seal everything (smell) coming from the branches? I do not want any smell from the seal itself , It should be really eco and safe. So do you think this polish would work for me? View answer
