SAMPLE - AFM SafeCoat, Polyureseal BP, Matte Q&A
Activity timeframe
Hello, I have 1 gallon of the SafeCoat Polyureseal in matte and 1 gallon in satin. I will likely need to use 2 gallons for my project, 1 initial coat and then a second on top. Is it possible to mix the two gallons together and then proceed with my project, or should I use the matte first and then follow it up with the satin? View answer

I need to seal in the off gassing from an IKEA particle board kitchen cabinet that's got melamine foil on the outside and plastic edging. Would this product be the best or would another product work better? It also needs to be durable and provide a waterproof barrier against atmospheric moisture (it's in an RV) and water spills from the sink that's above it. Mold and mildew protection in addition would be ideal. Thank you. View answer

I have an old township road bridge plank that I am wanting to refinish and make interior shelving. The plank has a tar odor emitting. I am looking for a clear odor blocking sealer, and would LIKE to be able to keep the rustic look, but have nicely finished. Product advice? View answer

I'm looking to get the toxic smell out of my kitchen cabinets, which are brand new. I'm not really looking to paint them since they are white and I love the color. Which products would be best to use with this process? I'm reading about the Polyureseal (satin and gloss). I believe the cabinets made from wood. View answer

Hello,we are considering an exposed cement concrete flooring and are wondering how to seal it. I do have very severe chemical sensitivities (MCS). Is the polyureseal suitable for this kind of application? Are there better options?Any help would be much appreciated.Kind greetings Lenny View answer

I've dresser drawers with an unpleasant smell when they are opened. These are solid wood for the sides and plywood for the bottom. I can't distinguish whether the smell is from the wood, or from the plywood. I want to seal it to eliminate off-gassing. I am considering various AFM Safecoat products.1. Can Polyureseal BP be used on unpainted solid wood directly? Can it be used on unpainted plywood?2. Can Hard Seal be used on unpainted solid wood directly? Can it be used on unpainted plywood?3. Can Safe Seal be applied on solid wood?I am inclined to use Polyureseal BP because the data shows that it offers better protection against off-gassing of formaldehyde, but I am not sure whether it can be applied on unfinished wood and plywood surfaces. My carpenters applied an oil based stain to my oak stair treads. Big mistake. It smells horrible. I did not apply oil based polyurethane yet because I realize that will smell even more! And water based polyurethanes don't work over oil based stains! Is there any healthier product I can cover my oil stained stair treads with? So far every product I see says do not apply over oil based stains. Is there any "low odor" oil based polyurethane product I can use? Or do I need to sand off the old oil stain and start again?? Hi, I'm wondering if this product could be used to protect from off-gassing from a linoleum floor? The finish has worn off due to faulty cleaning, and is now off-gassing. we'd prefer to not change the floor entirely. Would this or another product help seal the off-gassing, and could it be used on organic materials such as linoleum? (don't want to risk microbial growth). Thanks a lot! View answer

I have particle board kitchen cabinets in a place built over 30 years ago. Only surfaces visible when the cabinets are closed have a laminate veneer. The insides and presumably the bottoms and and backs are uncoated particle board. I want to seal the surfaces I can reach - the insides. I have a full leftover container of AFM Hard Seal from another project. I noticed Polyureseal BP did best at blocking formaldehyde in the tests on your website. Would you recommend Hard Seal, Acrylacq, or Polyureseal BP? View answer
