We recently purchased a gorgeous harvest table made of Acacia wood. It seats eight and is a very rugged and natural-looking piece of furniture. It will get high use as we entertain and will be using it for our plant-based cooking classes. We want to protect and preserve it as much as we can. What products do your recommend for this? I read a few reviews of one of your products that other customers raved about SafeCoat Naturals Oil Wax. Is this the product we should buy? View answer

Would this be a good replacement for epoxy on top of a slab, under a vapor barrier and engineered hardwood? The slab is fully dry (poured 2 years ago) and has a properly taped Stego vapor barrier so it should get minimal to no vapor. I just want to slow any additional vapor that might try to evaporate into the flooring. View answer

I've dresser drawers with an unpleasant smell when they are opened. These are solid wood for the sides and plywood for the bottom. I can't distinguish whether the smell is from the wood, or from the plywood. I want to seal it to eliminate off-gassing. I am considering various AFM Safecoat products.1. Can Polyureseal BP be used on unpainted solid wood directly? Can it be used on unpainted plywood?2. Can Hard Seal be used on unpainted solid wood directly? Can it be used on unpainted plywood?3. Can Safe Seal be applied on solid wood?I am inclined to use Polyureseal BP because the data shows that it offers better protection against off-gassing of formaldehyde, but I am not sure whether it can be applied on unfinished wood and plywood surfaces. In trying out your bioshield clay paints ( I love them), I had a wet paper towel rubbed across the dry paint (dry for days) and it came right off. What can I put over my 800 ft. of wall (where I will put the clay paint) to make it behave like regular paint, where I can wash smudges off without the clay paint coming off? I've also been looking at this Wall Glaze product and I know you mentioned somewhere about applying AFM SafeCoat Acrylacq in another Q&A. Can that be put on the full clay-painted wall? Will it change the sheen? I'd like a flat or matte sheen. Should I just change to ECOS Paint? If I do, can I put the Wall Glaze or Acrylacq on the clay areas I have now, so the clay will not wash off? View answer

I've built a flat file art cabinet that's has big drawers (20"x 40") out of sanded plywood. Wood came from Ecuador (smells awful) it's off gassing in the garage for 2 months and it still smells. Would you recommend SafeSeal or Hard Seal for the drawer bottoms or something else? All chemicals/smells need to be sealed as it will be in my bedroom.1. When coating is it best to do the tops of the drawers, let it cure for a day, then flip the drawers and do the bottoms, or can I do both in 1 day?2. SafeSeal and Hard Seal say don't use over oil based products. I primed/painted the cabinets with oil based paint, then painted over with fusions mineral waterbased paint, can I use Safe or HardSeal to seal in that color on the outside of the cabinet? We used radon seal and are looking for a topcoat waterproof layer. We have also previously sealed cracks and old carpet tacking holes with a silicone based caulk. Will this product hold up to high traffic and constant pressure from carpet and will it adhere after using radon seal? View answer

I have some new Sauder furniture that has raw particle board on the edges. Even the wood parts that have been finished have the odor. Should I use the safe seal on the raw edges and the hard seal on the finished parts, or can I use the hard seal on the raw edges and the finished parts? I just need to seal in so no off gassing. Thank you. View answer

Hello, I have one of these boards but recently found out the resin that was used is phenolic formaldehyde. Just the mention of anything formaldehyde gave me a scare so I searched the web for answers. The internet being like it is I found plenty of "organic mom" blogs saying the use of these boards is basically equivalent to poisoning your entire family. So I was very surprised to see you guys selling them. I am a customer of your paints and sealants and I trust you, so seeing this makes me feel better - but perhaps you can explain what makes these boards safe and nontoxic for food prep. I understand urea formaldehyde is the bad guy but why is the phenol variety ok? Is it possible it could leach into food during use? View answer

The Residential Floor Cleaning Instructions say to Mix 1/2 ?? 1 ounce of Forbo Neutral pH Cleaner per 1 gallon of unheated tap water. Do you know how I can measure that with cup measures? (I just received a sample of Forbo Marmoleum Modular - Tile Item #85972 in Refreshing Green and it is lovely. I want to make sure that if we go with this flooring, that I know how to take care of it properly.) View answer

Hi, I'm hoping someone can answer this that has a lot of experience with the products as I don't want to mess up my cabinets and flooring by sealing them incorrectly. I bought a 4.5 year old home and I am not feeling well in the home. It's probably outgassing? The flooring is a wood laminate. Are there any products that could be used to seal the laminate floor? Any other suggestions if not? And also, what about cabinets. Is there a seal for the cabinets given they are not painted but stained a dark espresso color? I would not want to mess up the finishes on them but at the same time I cannot be sick in my home so any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. I will do what it takes to be stay healthy. Thank you View answer

Around how long might it take to cure/seal/dry a wood countertop? This is important as I need to know if I can keep the family from using it for that long in the kitchen! For example, I've had a can of Monocoat sitting for months because I can't make the kitchen off-limits for the required 6-something days. View answer
