We are planning to paint out old farmhouse in the spring. We will be painting over aluminum siding that was installed in the late 70s. it's been painted several times over the years, but it is chalky and fading. What do we need to do to prep the aluminum, and then what products would we use to prime and paint (and how many coats of each would you recommend for aluminum)? View answer

Hello, I am trying to decide between AFM primer that seals in vocs or Ecos air purifying primer. I might end up having to use a different zero voc brand latex or acrylic paint that our contractors can purchase quickly. Could you tell me what would be the best primer to use in a mixer of new drywall and older painted drywall that will be zero voc and help seal up the smells and chemicals from the new drywall ? I'm using M-1 adhesive to attach heat cable clips to asphalt shingles. Our daytime temps are 40-50F. Night temps are 15-30F. We have rain/snow in the forecast. Can I apply M-1 during the day when 40-50F if the temps will be below freezing at night and with rain/snow expected in the following day or two? View answer

Hi! I am searching for a non toxic paint to apply for a decorative graphic motif on 100 yo ceramic hearth tiles that get no foot traffic. Might you have any recommendations for which of your products to use? I was considering the clay paint. Thanks so much for your expertise and feedback! View answer

Hi there, will this primer work well for old plaster walls? We have a 1940s home & tore off two layers of old wood paneling to discover yellow painted plaster walls. So it's easy to assume it's lead based paint as well. Will this primer be suitable for this? We have ecos paint but cannot use their primer as it isn't suitable for plaster. Thank you so much for your help! View answer

Hello there. I have an extreme allergy to the isothiazolinone family of preservatives, including methylisothiazolinone (MI), methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI), benzisothiazolinone (BIT), and octylisothiazolinone (OIT). Can this or any other of your products be used to apply vinyl plank floor to a non porous concrete slab in a bathroom? If not, are you aware of any adhesives for vinyl flooring that are free of isothiazolinones? View answer

Need outdoor stain for front steps and porch. Wood is brand new, fir and pine. Will these two wood types absorb the stain similarly? (fir for stairs, pine for porch; like the Sutton Grey color). How many years does the stain last? When it's time to reapply, can we apply the stain over the existing Rubio Monocoat, or do we have to sand off to reapply? View answer
