I have an old wood dresser and live in San Francisco. The humidity is usually around 50% and our dresser and clothes in it have started to smell a bit funky. I tried cleaning it with vinegar and leaving it outside but the smell is still there. Do you think one of your products will seal in the smell and probably mold spores in the dresser? View answer

Would natural linoleum be a good option for flooring for a home gym? It is going to be under equipment that weighs around 1,000 pounds, in the basement. If it is a good option, could you send me a quote for a 10 foot x 10 foot section? Do you have any virgin rubber solutions? I'm looking for a product with zero off gassing. View answer

Can your low gloss sealer be used on a colored concrete basement floor with in-floor heat? The concrete was beautiful before we finished the basement. Now it has some scratches and spray from putting in the sheetrock, etc. I can get most of the sheetrock spray off, but want to get the concrete to shine again. We built the house two years ago. What would you recommend for a front door finish? The door is new and made of walnut. It is not on the sunny side of our house and is set into the stone of the house. We purchased Safecoat Penetrating Oil for the cherry floors. Would that product work on an exterior application or do you suggest a different product? View answer

I want to make an iron pipe table. I would like to paint the bottom black, but I'm looking for a non-toxic paint and it is hard to find. I did see your product for metal and I was wondering what color it was. If it is transparent, the legs wouldn't be as black as I want them, right? What would you recommend? View answer

I have gutted an area of my house (kitchen and one bedroom) that has some chemical off gassing and possible moisture issues. At this point, it is down to studs and a concrete slab floor. Some of the wooden framework is made with pressure-treated wood. My plan is to coat all of the studs with SafeSeal Hardcoat. But before I do, I was wondering if you have another recommendation. I'm about to have some hardwood flooring refinished and a water-based polyurethane coating will be used. What questions do I need to ask to make sure no toxic ingredients will be used? Also, which is easier to install--Marmoleum click or Cork click? This will be for a DIY kitchen and mudroom installation. View answer

I'm so glad to find your selections of wool carpet since I have chemical sensitivities, but there are so many choices! I have four children at home so our carpet gets a lot of wear. Our budget doesn't stretch forever, either. Which of your carpets (for my living room and stairs) are sturdiest and hide stains best without a giant price tag? View answer

I am trying to decide on whether to purchase Volcanic Ash in the 12-inch click or the 12-inch glue down tile. I know the price difference is key, but which one is more durable? It will be installed in a kitchen. Spills will happen, however I noted that it said to clean up spills before 30 minutes had passed...so I just wanted to check before I made my decision. View answer

I have an oak entertainment center that I am converting to a chicken coop where it will remain outdoors. Since pets will be in close proximity I'll need a non-toxic, no-VOC, weatherproof sealer to apply to the entertainment center. I think the unit is unfinished. It measures 28x65x53 and I'll need enough to cover the inside and out. There are a lot of options for sealers on your website. Could you help me narrow it down? How many coats are necessary? I was told that no one makes luxury vinyl flooring/planks in the United States. I find that hard to believe. I don't want to buy from China for many reasons. What do you carry/sell that would be sturdy, dependable and made in the United States? We are looking for something that looks like wood. We have pets in the house, so thinking luxury planks would be best for us. View answer

The wall-to-wall carpet and padding in our lower-level living area developed a musty smell shortly after receiving six inches of rain within two hours. The carpet and pad were removed and discarded. The base floor is untreated concrete slab and we found no visual sign of mold, mildew or water entry on concrete slab or carpet/pad. Cleaning the floor with soap and water and running multiple dehumidifiers for 2 weeks eliminated the odor. We then applied Concrobium mold control (to be safe). We'd like to seal the concrete to prevent moisture vapor from migrating through the concrete in the future. The folks at AFM recommended using MexeSeal for this purpose. As you carry both MexeSeal and Green Building Supply Sealer. Which product do we use? View answer

I've dresser drawers with an unpleasant smell when they are opened. These are solid wood for the sides and plywood for the bottom. I can't distinguish whether the smell is from the wood, or from the plywood. I want to seal it to eliminate off-gassing. I am considering various AFM Safecoat products.1. Can Polyureseal BP be used on unpainted solid wood directly? Can it be used on unpainted plywood?2. Can Hard Seal be used on unpainted solid wood directly? Can it be used on unpainted plywood?3. Can Safe Seal be applied on solid wood?I am inclined to use Polyureseal BP because the data shows that it offers better protection against off-gassing of formaldehyde, but I am not sure whether it can be applied on unfinished wood and plywood surfaces. I'd like to stain my refinished hardwood floor and then apply a top coat like polyurethane. I'd like a stain for colour and something to protect it that is designed for floors. I would also use this on plywood floors that have been sanded BUT IT HAS TO BE water-based, zero-VOC or low-VOC and very little odour as well, as I am very sensitive to chemicals and smells. My husband and I recently nailed a grid of wood two-by-fours on our bedroom wall (pine, unfinished, plenty of knotholes). I was going to paint the wall with the grids of wood nailed to it a dark color, however a professional painter told me I need to prime the boards with an oil based primer so that the knotholes don't keep bleeding through.Do you have a Safecoat that the painters can use over the white oil-based primer that can later be painted with latex paint? I want to seal in some of the oil primer's VOCs because I am six months pregnant. Then, I wanted to paint the wall a color of my choice. What would you recommend? I don't want knotholes bleeding through, but I am very concerned about the fumes. View answer
