SAMPLE - AFM SafeCoat, Hard Seal Q&A
Activity timeframe
I'm creating closet shelves with raw MDF boards. I'm concerned about formaldehyde off-gassing from the MDF. How to incorporate the odor-blocking sealants into my workflow? Apply AFM Safecoat Hard Seal (or is Safe Seal better here?) on the raw MDF, wait for sealer to dry, then apply primer and cabinet paint? Or apply primer and cabinet paint first, then apply the AFM Hard Seal as the final layer? I need the final finish to be durable and ideally a semi-gloss texture. Thank you View answer

Hi, I have a couple questions. One is this considered a resin at all? Two I have cabinets that someone paint over with no primer the paint looks good and I don't want to redo but if your nail hits it it's peels easy. Would one of the products works to seal it to prevent the paint from coming off? Thank you View answer

I have a small home office in my garage. The bottom 10 inches of two walls are concrete, which has been painted over in a high quality standard white paint. 3-4 months after construction and after many days of ventilation, the office still reeks of fumes when the door has been closed more than an hour. I have isolated the smell to the paint on the concrete. While it is very dry to touch, it has moisture coming through the porous concrete. I stumbled upon your product and want to try to seal the smell. What product is optimal for ending off-gassing in this case--over paint which is over concrete? View answer

I recently purchased a custom camper-van conversion. It has lots of wooden cabinets that were built with plywood and then finished with paint. There is also a wooden ceiling and wooden countertops that were stained. All the products used were water based but it has a strong toxic odor. Would this be the right product to use to abate the off gassing? View answer

A bedroom I painted with zero VOC paint still smells after a year and makes me sick (gives me a headache and sinus congestion). it's a sweet odor that my husband can barely smell, but it's very strong to me. I'm very sensitive to chemicals. Will the AFM HardSeal safely seal in any off gassing that is occurring? View answer

Hello,I make cement soap dishes and i am looking for a sealer that will give a protective coating that could be washed clean and prevent staining.I would like to be able to wash the soap off of dish- so it does not penetrate the cement, yet be non toxic so sealer does not leach into soap.Would this product work?thank you Linda Pucci View answer

I have white glossy cabinets that remain smelly with a ??new paint' smell on the inside years later (only the cabinets that have interior shelves that were painted). I am unsure if the paint is oil based, but am hoping you can recommend what product I try to seal the inside of the cabinets? Thanks! View answer

Hi, I'm looking to use a sealer on our newly bought outdoor patio table which is made from a lightweight polyresin blend with a concrete powder (according to the manufacturer). Which product would you recommend? The manufacturer claims it already has pretty good protection however oils could in some cases cause stains. View answer

Hello - I have moved into a man apartment with vinyl tiles and there is a heavy vinyl odour in two rooms. The tiles are very old and I see evidence of mold coming up through the seams in a few places. It's a rental and have no hope of the landlord checking the subflooring or replacing the tiles. Would this product work to seal the vinyl and also seal the seams? View answer
