SAMPLE - AFM SafeCoat, Hard Seal Q&A
Activity timeframe
I had someone build me a shelf on etsy, and asked them to put two coats of this on. I can still smell the paint. I am wondering if it doesn't work on sealing everything? I have a closet that smells like baby powder that I want to seal in, but don't want to purchase more if it doesn't work. Please advise. Thanks! View answer

I am multi chemical sensitive. A year ago I purchased a solid pine Ikea cabinet that is stained and coated with a clear acrylic lacquer. The smell inside the cabinet remains so strong that I don't trust storing items inside it. Would painting AFM SafeCoat, Hard Seal over the acrylic lacquer eliminate the smell? View answer

A bedroom I painted with zero VOC paint still smells after a year and makes me sick (gives me a headache and sinus congestion). it's a sweet odor that my husband can barely smell, but it's very strong to me. I'm very sensitive to chemicals. Will the AFM HardSeal safely seal in any off gassing that is occurring? View answer

Hi! I have 3 cockatiels that I love dearly and they have their own room in my house. They are messy and I need to be able to clean the walls easily. I just painted with ECOS eggshell paint but I find that its not as easily cleanable as I need it to be. What is an eco-friendly top coat that I can put over the ECOS eggshell paint that will clean up more easily and not harm my birds respiratory systems in the process? View answer

We used radon seal and are looking for a topcoat waterproof layer. We have also previously sealed cracks and old carpet tacking holes with a silicone based caulk. Will this product hold up to high traffic and constant pressure from carpet and will it adhere after using radon seal? View answer

I have a cedar closet that sustained some level of water damage in the past due to a roofing issue thats long been resolved. In the process of selling house and decided to prime and paint since that look is in. However prior to painting I primed to cover over the water marks and to provide better coverage for paint. Prior to priming the closet had an old smell that you find in older homes. After priming the smell is more intense. Almost as putrid as room after a fire. Before I move forward with painting I have to address this odor. Would hardseal address this issue over kilz primer? Or is there a better solution? I will paint afterwards. View answer

We are doing new construction and I would love to have the FORBO Click product on both the upper and lower levels, however with pricing and installation, it is out of budget. I see this cannot be used on vinyl. I am wondering if it would be safe and effective for LVP Click Planks? If so, I could do marmoleum click downstairs and LVP upstairs with the safe coat as a compromise for our budget but while still prioritizing health and air quality. I am also wondering about the longevity or upkeep? View answer

I have a small home office in my garage. The bottom 10 inches of two walls are concrete, which has been painted over in a high quality standard white paint. 3-4 months after construction and after many days of ventilation, the office still reeks of fumes when the door has been closed more than an hour. I have isolated the smell to the paint on the concrete. While it is very dry to touch, it has moisture coming through the porous concrete. I stumbled upon your product and want to try to seal the smell. What product is optimal for ending off-gassing in this case--over paint which is over concrete? View answer

I recently purchased a custom camper-van conversion. It has lots of wooden cabinets that were built with plywood and then finished with paint. There is also a wooden ceiling and wooden countertops that were stained. All the products used were water based but it has a strong toxic odor. Would this be the right product to use to abate the off gassing? View answer

Hi there, I am looking for a sealer to seal wooden dough bowls that will be made into candles. My questions are, does this product seal wood? If so, once I make the candle and burn it, would toxic or harmful odors be released into the air from the sealer? I need a sealer that seals wood, is non toxic once it gets heated and is fire safe.Thank you View answer
