SAMPLE - AFM SafeCoat, Hard Seal Q&A

I want to seal our fiberglass / acrylic bathtub that gets dirty very easily and is very hard to scrub clean. Not 100% sure of the material but it is a dull white that seems a bit porous, it's definitely not enamel over metal or porcelain. It seems like "plastic" which is why it gets so dirty. Will this sealer product do the job for me. Will this product stay in tact and be a durable surface that will be easier to keep clean?? it's a solid excellent tub otherwise. View answer

I recently purchased HardSeal, which I was told would absolutely stop cabinets and a countertop from off gassing. In reading the tiny information on the can I discovered it says do NOT use on chipboard or particle board, which is the very stuff cabinets and countertops are made of! What is the story here? Have I just wasted my money? View answer

I'm in the process of using lead encapsulation paint to cover my antique window frames, however the paint I need to use is very matte similar to primer, so I'm looking for something to put on top of this lead encapsulation paint that has a gloss. What products would work? Could I use just Ecos gloss paint or would a gloss top coat like the Safecoat hardseal be better? View answer

I have a room with asbestos tile. I would like to use it as a sewing and embroidery room. I would like to keep the tile safely. Could I use a sealant on the surface to make it safer? I don't want to disturb it, but am wondering if the vibration of the sewing machines would cause fibers to dislodge? View answer

Hi there, I am looking for a sealer to seal wooden dough bowls that will be made into candles. My questions are, does this product seal wood? If so, once I make the candle and burn it, would toxic or harmful odors be released into the air from the sealer? I need a sealer that seals wood, is non toxic once it gets heated and is fire safe.Thank you View answer

We are doing new construction and I would love to have the FORBO Click product on both the upper and lower levels, however with pricing and installation, it is out of budget. I see this cannot be used on vinyl. I am wondering if it would be safe and effective for LVP Click Planks? If so, I could do marmoleum click downstairs and LVP upstairs with the safe coat as a compromise for our budget but while still prioritizing health and air quality. I am also wondering about the longevity or upkeep? View answer

My daughter just rented space for a golf cart business where the owners have covered all the walls in particle board. They did this just before she took possession. It is unpainted - raw. I was looking at how to paint it when I learned this product is toxic. I understand your products can cover surfaces and make them safer. I thought the best would be the Safecoat Hard Seal but it is a gloss finish and I don't see that it's available in any other finish. How could we paint the walls in a colored paint over a gloss finish? The other option was the Safecoat Safe Seal but can this be used on walls like the Hard Seal? If not, can you please tell me what would work. She is sensitive to chemicals and now has entered a year lease! Please help! View answer

My dad has fabricated a hunting cabin using an existing metal building. The interior has been enclosed in plywood on ceilings and walls, insulated with roll-out insulation in between the metal walls and plywood. We used caulking and glue to seal in all the spaces and cracks. The building seems to be off-gassing, and it actually made him sick a few days after he stayed in it last year. I want to seal it before he comes back in November. I talked to an ecoadvisor, was recommended the HardSeal since we are not planning on painting, keeping the natural, rustic look. The cabin is 440 sq ft, how many gallons will I need to cover with one coat? I will need to coat the ceilings too, basically the whole interior. I plan on using a sprayer. View answer

We had PVC trim installed and the off-gassing is terrible. We were hoping for a sealer that we could paint over. It doesn't seem possible with this after all. Can we instead paint the PVC with zero VOC water-based latex paint and then apply the hardcoat sealer over top?? View answer

I want to paint and seal some acoustic ceiling tiles in the bathroom. The paint will be water-based. Will Safecoat Hardcoat adhere to this painted surface? If I have to choose between painting them and sealing them as is (I believe they have already been painted or coated with something as they are white) I will just seal them! Thank You! View answer

Hi! I run an eco-friendly Etsy shop and I'd like to make earrings out of cold porcelain air drying clay as opposed to polymer clay but I need it to be waterproof, what products would you suggest? & Would I be Dipping the clay "charms" in the sealant or would brushing be better for my purpose? I have a solid wood birch desk, it is finished but the grommet holes are not. I have sample of soft seal and hard seal. I know soft seal is not recommended on solid wood, but hard seal is? Would it be ok to use hard seal to protect these grommet holes or would I need to get sample of polyureseal bp? Which smells more? View answer
