I have a wood piece of dining room furniture from South America that has really nasty odor when I open the doors. Smells toxic. Finish inside is yellow. I want to ensure is safe to store items inside. Not sure what product of yours to use since I do not know if finish on interior is oil- based or not? it's a pretty piece & have been using as decoration only but will need to sell if I can't also use for storage. Thanks. View answer

I am removing old vinyl tile flooring from the 1980's that was glued down with a black adhesive that has an incredibly strong chemical odor. It doesn't contain asbestos, we had it tested. The subfloor is plywood. The smell is definitely coming from the adhesive because there is no smell at all until the flooring comes up. Can we apply the Hard Seal over the adhesive that's stuck to the subfloor to encapsulate the chemical off-gassing before installing the new wood floor? The last thing I want is for some horrible chemical reaction between this product and the adhesive. (Unfortunately we do have to remove the vinyl flooring rather than lay the new wood flooring over it because it's so uneven.) View answer

Hi. My contractor used Great Stuff Gap and Cracks spray foam to seal cracks throughout our under-construction home. Due to asthma, allergies, and general sensitivity to chemicals and smells, I had specifically requested no high VOC materials, poly-isocyanates, polyurethane, etc. -- all of which are in this product. They used the foam where the subfloor meets the wall, around plumbing penetrations, and around electrical boxes. Removing the spray foam is dangerous and maybe impossible. Can I seal the foam to prevent a lifetime of off-gassing? Would Hard Seal work for that purpose? Or is there some other approach? Thanks! View answer

I had someone build me a shelf on etsy, and asked them to put two coats of this on. I can still smell the paint. I am wondering if it doesn't work on sealing everything? I have a closet that smells like baby powder that I want to seal in, but don't want to purchase more if it doesn't work. Please advise. Thanks! View answer

I am multi chemical sensitive. A year ago I purchased a solid pine Ikea cabinet that is stained and coated with a clear acrylic lacquer. The smell inside the cabinet remains so strong that I don't trust storing items inside it. Would painting AFM SafeCoat, Hard Seal over the acrylic lacquer eliminate the smell? View answer

Hi! I have 3 cockatiels that I love dearly and they have their own room in my house. They are messy and I need to be able to clean the walls easily. I just painted with ECOS eggshell paint but I find that it's not as easily cleanable as I need it to be. What is an eco-friendly top coat that I can put over the ECOS eggshell paint that will clean up more easily and not harm my birds respiratory systems in the process? View answer

I have a cedar closet that sustained some level of water damage in the past due to a roofing issue that's long been resolved. In the process of selling house and decided to prime and paint since that look is in. However prior to painting I primed to cover over the water marks and to provide better coverage for paint. Prior to priming the closet had an "old" smell that you find in older homes. After priming the smell is more intense. Almost as putrid as room after a fire. Before I move forward with painting I have to address this odor. Would hardseal address this issue over kilz primer? Or is there a better solution? I will paint afterwards. View answer

I am wanting to use this on cement trays that I've created. These trays will be used inside the home and will likely hold an array of items. Do you recommend this product as a cement sealer? I primarily want it to create a clear barrier to avoid staining. It would be nice if it's fire resistant but not a huge requirement. View answer
