Hardwood Flooring Underlayment and Tools Q&A

Should we use a vapor barrier along with the cork underlayment when installing Wood Wise over concrete? For our current basement remodel, we are seriously considering the Wood Wise flooring option by Amorim. This will be going over a concrete floor (still need to conduct a moisture test). The manufacturer states only a 6 or 8 mil vapor barrier is required as an underlayment, but we won't void the warranty with a 2 mm cork underlayment. Since this project is over concrete, should we install a vapor barrier in addition to the cork underlayment. View answer

I have several questions about Marmoleum Click Flooring: 1. Which size is easier to install: 12x36 or 12x12? 2. What chemicals are used in the floor finish? 3. Does this flooring initially have any chemical odor? 4. What vapor barrier do you recommend for a cement floor (2nd-floor condo)? Do I need padding? 5. Is it possible to use wool pad under Marmoleum Click? 6. How much does installation cost per sq. ft? View answer

We are thinking of purchasing strand bamboo flooring (USFloors Ming) and using this underneath. Do we still need a vapor barrier between the concrete and the cork underlayment or can you forgo the plastic underlayment (just cork and flooring)? We live in Florida, a very humid climate if that is relevant. View answer

You mention it "reduces abrasion", is that specified somewhere? Does it allow same level of movement as rosin paper? Manufacturer of OSB in a two layer subfloor layout calls for 15lb felt (prevent squeaking). Doing 1 x 6" wood slats as 1st subfloor layer, then underlayment on top of the 1st subfloor layer (15 lb felt, or equivalent, presumably silicon vapor shield, aka SVS), then a 1 1/8" OSB subfloor layer, which we xxxx down through the underlayment with 1 3/4 inch decking screws. a) Do we staple/nail down silicon vapor shield or loose lay? Maybe underlayment seal tape to cover seams? Or double sided tape to secure to the floor/prevent it from moving as the OSB 4' x 8' sheet is placed on top of it and screwed down to 1st layer subfloor?
