Hardwood Flooring Underlayment and Tools Q&A

What finish do you recommend for keeping pine floors as light as possible? Our 110 plus year old floors are old growth pine that show their nails (from being refinished too many times, by previous owners.) We would prefer to keep the light honey color of pine, and avoid too much darkening while at the same time preserving these antique floors, with a repairable finish if possible. View answer

I am installing click loc Marmoleum flooring in a shed on slab construction. I have already installed 6 mil vapor barrier and an OSB subfloor to provide more cushion/insulation. I want an underlayment that doesn't have a vapor barrier that could trap any potential moisture between layers as the 6 mil is underneath. Is this the right product? View answer

I bought USFloors cork underlayment in a roll from Lowe's - it came in a 100 square ft roll. Is that product the same as this one? Just asking since it's sold as USFloors on Lowe's but the branding on the roll has a black spiral and the label says Premium Cork Underlayment. View answer

Plan to install travertine flooring. Per industry recommendations, will use two layers of 3/4" subfloor (not glued together) to get a stiff floor section. However, we are concerned such a stiff floor will be 'hard' to walk on, day in, day out. Would cork add some 'give' back to this floor if applied on top of the two layers of 3/4 subflooring? Is the 12mm version of their natural cork on permanent backorder? We are looking for an underlayment with excellent resistance to compression to avoid telegraphing the grout lines of the ceramic tiles beneath the laminate planks we are installing, and so would prefer the thickest cork possible.
