What sealant is best to waterproof between boards/around edges? I want to use the most green/low VOC sealant possible. I imagine I will use safecoat around the edges, I also imagine that caulk would look ugly between boards. What do you recommend? Will be floating over an old vinyl floor with asbestos glue we don't want to disturb. View answer

Our goal is to have a floor that has good cushioning, insulation, soundproofing and can hold up to furniture and foot traffic (2nd floor bedroom, office, playroom). I'm torn between Cork or Marmoleum.I'd like your opinion on the durability of the Go-cork plank product. Indenting, fading and non-waterproof seem to be the main marks against it. Can you interpret these numbers? From what I can see on this website, the Cork has IIC 58, STC 54, r-value: ? compared toMarmoleumIIC57, ASTM E 492, STC ?, r-value 0.53.Am I to understand that marmoleum plank has almost similar properties to Cork plank? How resistant is this new generation cork floor to fading from sunlight? Our current cork tile installation faded badly around area rugs after a few years of partial daily sun exposure through south and west windows resulting in a bleached-out appearance compared to the much darker covered areas. Thanks. View answer

I'm debating between Cork Go, Cork Essence and CorkWISE. A big reason I'd like to try cork is that I deal with chronic lower leg and foot pain. Are there differences in how soft to the foot one of these is compared to the others? For example, does the waterproof-ness of the WISE make it harder to stand on than Go? Is Essence harder than Go or about the same? Will Go last as long as the others? Thank you! View answer
