I painted my laminate formica countertops with a paint kit. it's holding up well, but the glossy finish is showing wear and scuffs. I'd like to take it to a matte or satin finish, but the paint kit company only offers gloss. If I sand with a fine grit and dull the surface, can I use this to reseal? How durable is it? View answer

I have a sample of UVL Troy in soft honey and it is exactly what I've been looking for BUT the wool is very very soft and I am worried that it will become fuzzy and worn looking in a short time. In reading the reviews here I see that it sheds a lot. I can deal with that. I also I would like to use my Dyson battery stick on the carpet and I wonder if the brush, which is not overly harsh and works fine on my old wool carpeting, will turn the soft loops into fuzzy lumps? I have recently stripped some wallpaper and am now left with drywall that has some glue and quite a few little places where th drywall paper covering has pulled away. My understanding is that the conventional process to deal with this is to apply an oil based sales, then skim coat, then sand, then prime and paint. I am looking for something less toxic for the first two steps of this process(oil based sealer and skim coat with joint compound). Would this project work in lieu of the oil based sealer? If so, would it be ok to do a skim coat over it? View answer

Hi there. The synthetic carpet in the house we recently purchased was apparently fitted in 2015. The info provided about AFM's Carpet Seal suggests that you might only need to use this is the carpet is under 4 years old. Is this true? And is this because carpet backing has typically stopped off gassing after 4 years? If I don't need to use the Carpet Seal, would you still recommend using AFM's Carpet Lock Out to prevent off gassing of the fibers? If so, does this product also need to be re-applied on a yearly basis and how long do the fibers typically continue to offgas? View answer
