I bought AFM SafeCoat AcriGlaze a while ago for a different project I decided not to do. I was wondering if I can use this as a sealer substitute over kitchen cabinets I painted. I want a matte non-toxic sealer for the cabinet doors so they can be easily wiped down when cleaning. Will this product work? Will spills and splashes easily wipe off with this? View answer

I am looking for a matte finish. In two places for the AFM Safecoat, it notes that if you want a satin finish, you need to add one base coat of gloss first. But in a third place it notes the same applies for a matte finish. So, which is it? And furthermore, why is that? Seems like a lot of money to spend for a quart of Gloss that I'll barely need and will probably never come close to finishing. Thanks for your response. View answer

Other websites say you "can" put water-based polyurethane over oil-based stain as long as the oil stain has had time to cure. Some recommend a shellac sealer first but others say to just wait for the oil finish to fully dry or cure. If this is the case, then why can I not use SafeCoat Polyureseal BP over my fully dry oil-stained furniture? View answer

Hi. I see you do not recommend putting this product over an oil-based stain. However, I had tables made and the guy put a water-based polyurethane (Varathane brand) OVER his oil-based Varathane wood stain. The tables look awesome, no flaking or peeling. But they are off-gassing and the odor is bothersome. But I feel like it will be safe to put a coat of SafeCoat PolySeal BP on top since there is already a water-based finished that was put on last. Is this the right choice to seal a wooden framed catio that looks like it's inexpensive finish won't hold up over time? I want to keep it on a covered porch. I want it to be well sealed so I can clean any cat pee off easily. What is the best product to use for this purpose? Is there something I can use without having to sand every surface? View answer

I purchased a wooden cabinet to turn into a bathroom vanity. I do not know what type of stain was used on it. I would like to apply a protective coating without sanding off the finish to protect the wood from water and general moisture in the bathroom. Would this be a good fit, even over the unknown type of stain? View answer
