We recently had a live edge walnut table made for us and the builder finished it with Watco Danish Oil. We have three small children and don't feel the finish is hardy enough for us and we want something that is safe for our kids to eat off of and will be water repellant. There are a couple knots in the wood and small gaps in the board seams that need to be filled as well to prevent crumbs and liquid from entering - will I be able to use this product for this purpose as well or do you have another one you might recommend? What do you recommend buffing this with to ensure the grain of the wood is laid down? Despite sanding well, a white buffing pad caught the wood and raised some rough spots and I'd like a smooth floor after spending so much time on this seal. View answer

I used Safecoat oil wax finish on my raw knotty alder doors that turned out beautiful but darker than expected. I want to oil additional raw ponderosa pine but the oil doesn't turn out dark enough. Is there any way to add some color to the oil to try to match the pine? I have tried samples of your other stains on the wood to try to match the doors, but nothing is the right color. Any ideas? I have brand new oak butcher block style countertops from IKEA. We wanted to keep them as natural as possible and so we put 3 layers of mineral oil, and a 2 layers of a mineral oil/beeswax finish. As soon as a moist dishtowel rested on the countertop, the grain swelled up and was rough. We need to put something else on that's more durable after all. Will this Naturals Oil Wax Finish be ok to apply on top of these other natural oils/wax? Sure seems like there's plenty more penetration capacity based on how NON-water resistant the counters seem to be still. Oh and our sink is set into the countertop (lots of potential water exposure) and cooking will take place on them, but no chopping directly on them. View answer
