Looking for a non toxic alternative to Kilz sealer for subfloor before new carpet install. Will this work? Subfloor had dog urine damage in spots, so it was sanded and bleached to resurface the subfloor before new carpet install. Installers recommended using Kilz before installation but I'm hoping for a safer product since I baby will be in the house. View answer

Will this work for sealing a wooden hot tub? I need a sealer that can be used to seal a fir hot tub I am building. It will be a small single person tub that is drained and filled after each use. I need a sealer that can be submerged in water up to 105 degrees F and not leach chemicals too much. View answer

This is what it states in regards to using Hard Seal on a furniture piece that is solid wood and particle board. Looks like someone removed from the description the 2nd NOTE which stated the product could not be used on Particle Board. Please support?Hard Seal can also be used on painted or stained woodwork or on unfinished wood products. Not for use on particle board or chipboard. View answer

Trying to seal in smell and off gassing of a custom home made (bought second hand) bunk bed for two queen beds. We want to seal in odor and off gassing and paint it white. It was stained and has some sort of polyurethane. What product could accomplish all three? Seal in off gassing, eliminate odor, paint it white? Thank you so much for your safe products! View answer

I am looking to seal what appear to be MDF boards that have been used for the drawer bottoms and back of a new dresser against formaldehyde off-gassing. The boards have a shiny surface--only the edges are raw. I don't know whether this is a feature of MDF or whether they have been coated with acrylic. Would you recommend the SafeCoat safe seal or hard seal for this purpose? View answer

I recall that you said there's no difference between Safe Seal and Hard Seal when it comes to reducing off gassing... that the only difference is the finish... did I understand that correctly? Could either be used to seal the exposed under- and back-sides of an old laminate kitchen countertop? I'm guessing the exposed parts are compressed particle board. View answer

I'm in the process of putting down Varathane Floor Finish (oil-based polyurethane). I have two coats on OSB (I'm using DriCore as basement flooring). Unfortunately, I was unaware of just how toxic polyurethane is and am concerned about the potential long duration of off-gassing. I'm looking for an encapsulating sealer to contain the VOCs and the off-gassing. Will the SafeCoat Soft or Hard Sealer work for this? View answer

I own Colorado's first certified Built Green home, so you can imagine how hard I tried to get the painters I hired to use zero VOC paint. Despite my best efforts, a new employee of the company inexplicably used EXTERIOR paint on the INTERIOR of my home. !!!!! I am VERY concerned and distressed. 1) Will 2 coats of SafeSeal over the Sherwin (exterior) Superpaint help stop the off gassing of dangerous chemicals/VOCs? 2) Can I use zero VOC Sherwin Williams Promar 200 over the SafeSeal and exterior paint? I need to use that because it matches the rest of my home. View answer

I want to seal our fiberglass / acrylic bathtub that gets dirty very easily and is very hard to scrub clean. Not 100% sure of the material but it is a dull white that seems a bit porous, it's definitely not enamel over metal or porcelain. It seems like "plastic" which is why it gets so dirty. Will this sealer product do the job for me. Will this product stay in tact and be a durable surface that will be easier to keep clean?? it's a solid excellent tub otherwise. View answer

I recently purchased HardSeal, which I was told would absolutely stop cabinets and a countertop from off gassing. In reading the tiny information on the can I discovered it says do NOT use on chipboard or particle board, which is the very stuff cabinets and countertops are made of! What is the story here? Have I just wasted my money? View answer

I want to seal and waterproof the cinder block walls of my basement walls. The home is located in the USA midwest Where we have significant rain in the spring months and slow water seepage through the cinder blocks has been an issue over the years. I want something nontoxic that will eliminate mold and mildew, existing and new. Which of your sealant products would you recommend? A non gloss, paintable product would be preferred if possible.Thank you. Ra View answer
