Im confused...to the lady who stated she had a piece of furniture that is part solid wood part particle board. it was recommended to her to use the AFM hard seal...however when i read about hard seal it says not to use on particle board...?So what is recommended for furniture pieces that are composed of 2 different materials including these? I recall that you said there's no difference between Safe Seal and Hard Seal when it comes to reducing off gassing... that the only difference is the finish... did I understand that correctly? Could either be used to seal the exposed under- and back-sides of an old laminate kitchen countertop? I'm guessing the exposed parts are compressed particle board. View answer

I'm in the process of putting down Varathane Floor Finish (oil-based polyurethane). I have two coats on OSB (I'm using DriCore as basement flooring). Unfortunately, I was unaware of just how toxic polyurethane is and am concerned about the potential long duration of off-gassing. I own Colorado's first certified Built Green home, so you can imagine how hard I tried to get the painters I hired to use zero VOC paint. Despite my best efforts, a new employee of the company inexplicably used EXTERIOR paint on the INTERIOR of my home. !!!!!
