Hi - I created a new birdbath out of concrete that has imprints of leaves on the inside. I want to seal the birdbath including the inside that will hold the water. Is there a sealer that I can use that will be non-toxic to birds? I understand that the PH will be high on fresh concrete and that there are products that can reduce the PH of the concrete before sealing it. Will that be necessary before using the sealer? Although the birdbath is large (~ 2 x 2.5 ft.) I believe that I don't need a full gallon of the product. Can I get it in smaller sizes? Thanks, Steve View answer

Ref: Rubio Monocoat, Oil Plus 2C Interior Stain and Seal Kit. I would be using this on new plywood cabinetry inside my van. I plan to do all the sealing, staining, and curing of the wood pieces outside the van. My concern is spontaneous combustion of the cured oil-stained wood on a hot sunny 120 deg. F day when the interior surfaces baked by the sun can reach temperatures of over 180 deg. F. Will this be safe to use in this situation or should I only consider water-based sealers and stains? I have a cinder block foundation with a cement based parging that had a color added to make it black. The color turned out to be a darker grey. I believe it was a powder that was added to the parging mix. Can we use the Silacote to get the black color we originally were looking to achieve? Also, if the Silacote is suitable, which type would be recommended, smooth or textured? View answer

We've stripped our exterior stone walls with Peel Away followed by pressure-washing. The paint coatings were peeling and we assume were not of the breathable type. The result is a partially "clean" wall. Is there a breathable coating, perhaps semi-transparent, to even out the uneven remaining early paint finish on of the wall? Any recommendations are appreciated. View answer

Hi, I have just moved into a rental property that has had new carpet and underlay installed about 2 weeks ago. I have MCS and don't think either carpet or underlay is low VOC. Can I treat just the carpet with this system or will I need to also treat the underlay? Ideally, I wouldn't have to remove the carpet and can fix the problem by sealing just the carpet itself.
