We are interested in using your SafeCoat oil/wax sealer for our soon-to-be sanded 80+ year-old oak floors. We live outside Detroit, Michigan. How long does shipping normally take once ordered? Also, when is it safe to apply and what is the ballpark estimated drying time before floors can be walked on? View answer

My daughter is restoring a vintage trailer and wants to use Marmoleum on the floor. She wants the sheet Marmoleum that is 79-in wide, and she needs 12 running feet of this. She likes the Spa blue color (3219).
The questions we have are:
1. What is the price of this product?
2. How long does it take to receive the product?
3. What (if anything) is used underneath the Marmoleum as an underlayment, and what kind of glue should she use? The trailer has flooring that is marine plywood, which we have recently installed. Found your company on the internet, got a bunk bed delivered about a week ago with a strong chemical smell. I researched it and the smell seems to be coming from the unfinished bed slats. They appear to be plywood and since the bed was made in Vietnam, I'm concerned they didn't have a standard regarding formaldehyde. I can't return the bed - all sales final. Do you think I could use one of your sealers to seal it? What product would you suggest and what quantity would I need? View answer

I ordered a sample of the Hansa Silicate and am testing a small patch on our basement foundation. I did want to ask a technical question. We have a house built in 1904. The foundation is stacked stone and has been tuck pointed. When we purchased the home, our inspector indicated we should never waterproof the walls because they need to breathe. From what I understand, this product can be painted onto the stone to help reduce the dust, but will still allow the walls to breathe. Can someone confirm? I would hate to paint all the walls and have it compromise the structural foundation, which is in fantastic shape. View answer

We recently purchased a gorgeous harvest table made of Acacia wood. It seats eight and is a very rugged and natural-looking piece of furniture. It will get high use as we entertain and will be using it for our plant-based cooking classes. We want to protect and preserve it as much as we can. What products do your recommend for this? I read a few reviews of one of your products that other customers raved about SafeCoat Naturals Oil Wax. Is this the product we should buy? View answer

We have a plain, flat black wooden headboard that we have had for 11 years. Most of the time it is fine but occasionally there is a faint musty odor coming from it. It has never been wet, we keep it clean, and would like to keep it. Is there a non glossy, clear coat we can apply (no VOCs) which will help seal the wood and eliminate the occasional odor? I am planning to use earth weave carpet and padding. Do you recommend AFM SafeCoat 3-in-1 adhesive for installation of that carpet? The installers we have spoken to use a more toxic adhesive that I'm not comfortable with. They said the alternative would be to use no adhesive but that it could result in bunching. I'm hopeful that this AFM SafeCoat would be a better alternative. Any advice you can provide is appreciated! View answer

I installed some wood flooring about 1.5 years ago in a rental. Used low-grade plywood that I cut into planks and installed for a rustic look. The tenants have been complaining about urethane smell - and I started looking for a solution and found you guys. However, after more thinking/research I don't think it's the oil-based urethane that's the problem but possible off gassing of formaldehyde. I already have oil-based polyurethane on the floors - so I'm not sure which product you think might work best to seal over what's there and help protect against more off gassing. View answer

What AFM Safecoat zero VOC paint sheen do you recommend for older real-wood worn cabinets in a bathroom where there is routine moisture from everyday showers and using the sink? I purchased semi-gloss AFM for the walls. Also, what AFM color might you recommend for these same old, worn real-wood originally stained walnut/mahogany type cabinets. I'm thinking of selecting the AFM SafeCoat zero VOC paint because I don't want to use a stain, even an AFM stain, I know the stain has more odor than the zero VOC paints. We are chemically sensitive. Would I do better with a color that is closest to the current old walnut/mahogany-type stain that is on there now, so the zero VOC AFM would blend more easily and cover over the current worn-out stain? I am trying to seal the background in a reptile vivarium without much luck in finding a suitable non-toxic sealer. I'm looking for something non-toxic, will seal grout as well as wood and will last in a humid environment (misting once daily keeping humidity above 70%). Do you have anything that will meet those requirements? View answer

I lost my home in the N. California Valley wildfire, 7 months ago. I purchased a new home and I can't be on the deck during the day, because heat from the sun reactivates the oil-based stain on the deck, making me ill. I've chemical allergies, especially to oil-based stains (triggering Asthma). I've stripped some of the oil off (using citrus-based natural stripper - SafeStrip) and need to cover the deck with a barrier to reduce outgassing of the oil-based stain residuals, protect the wood, not outgas after it cures. Would Deck Revive and PermaBond create a barrier to block the residual oils from reactivating when heated by the high noon sun? Do you have any suggestion on ways of stripping oil-based stain not using toxic chemicals? View answer

I'm suffering from severe allergies and breathing difficulties and I'm not sure what's causing my problems. We're doing some renovation. I need AFM Safe Seal for the plywood flooring before we put on the bamboo flooring. I'm very sensitive to smells. Lately, it has gotten worse since my husband and his friend have started doing the kitchen. Please advise me which AFM product to get. Looking forward to hearing from you. View answer

I have a small home office in my garage. The bottom 10 inches of two walls are concrete, which has been painted over in a high quality standard white paint. 3-4 months after construction and after many days of ventilation, the office still reeks of fumes when the door has been closed more than an hour. I have isolated the smell to the paint on the concrete. While it is very dry to touch, it has moisture coming through the porous concrete. I stumbled upon your product and want to try to seal the smell. What product is optimal for ending off-gassing in this case--over paint which is over concrete? View answer

I am looking to purchase Marmoleum tile in the next six months for a home that I am now building. The tile will be used above grade on the second floor. I would like to add an underlayment under the linoleum to help with foot fall noise. Will AcoustiCork Cork Plus 250 work? The material is a cork mix with EVA and is 2.5mm thick. View answer

I recently purchased HardSeal, which I was told would absolutely stop cabinets and a countertop from off gassing. In reading the tiny information on the can I discovered it says do NOT use on chipboard or particle board, which is the very stuff cabinets and countertops are made of! What is the story here? Have I just wasted my money? View answer

We stained our wood-clad patio doors with the walnut-colored Rubio Monocoat, after testing the stain color on a piece of 1x4. The doors turned out much lighter than the swatch shown on your website and also much lighter than the test piece.
We would like to go darker on the color. However, with the doors being wood-clad (i.e.. thin veneered on the inside surface), we wouldn't be able to sand them down to re-stain them. What would you suggest we do? Can we layer another darker-colored Monocoat? Will the wood take on more color? If not, what are our options? We have pets at home so we have to use VOC free products. View answer

I am trying to decide what type of flooring to put in house I will take possession of in May. I want a not-so-hard floor as my dog fell off the sofa the other day onto my hard tile floor (she landed on her back which is already painful for her). So I'm thinking of Marmoleum. What do you think of for an entire house? I thought about cork but think it will be torn up a bit after a while by dog claws. Then there is bamboo...but I'm just not sure. But definitely thinking of Marmoleum for kitchen and baths. What do you think - have you ever seen Marmoleum for an entire house? View answer

I am looking at your website trying to decide what it is that I need to purchase to finish my granddaughter's high chair. I purchased an unfinished maple tray online to use on an old highchair that I have refinished. I would like to keep the natural beauty of this tray and just seal it someway so that it is safe for my granddaughter to eat off of the tray. What do you recommend that I use to do this? View answer

The price difference between your online Marmoleum versus what I would have to pay if I purchase it from the installer is huge. The installer is, of course, recommending that I buy from them, filling me with horror stories of buyers who purchased online and ended up with product that had been improperly stored and was too brittle and decayed to install properly. So. What to do? I appreciate the options of Marmoleum you display on your website. BUT. I'm afraid to buy from you without some reassurance. Do you warranty your online sales? If what I end up with from you is not great quality, and my installers say it's no good, do you pay return shipment and replacement? View answer

We installed Marmoleum flooring about 15 years ago. Over the years the seams have loosened a bit, there are some dings and scratches and various discolorations I would like to smooth out. I'd like to use non-toxic chemicals as much as possible. What instructional resources are available to restore linoleum flooring? Is there any special technique for re-glueing seams that have lifted? Wow, you sure have a lot of paints to choose from. I want to coat some interior brick masonry with a neutral Navajo-type white semi-gloss. Trying to select both a primer and finish coat product. One gallon each should do. it's a pretty small area, about 100 sf. Want to minimize outgassing, have chemical sensitivity. Recommendations? View answer
