Can I use this over a water based stain on a CVG doug fir floor? I read fir takes water based stains better than oil based stains, and that poly sealers are not good on fir floors. I already bought this product, now I'm wondering if it will work over the water based stain I bought. View answer

I would like to use this sealer on my grouted counter-top tiles. However I have a number of burgeoning culinary masters, aged 4 thru 9, who are still getting the basic concepts of after-cooking clean up. Will this sealer protect my grout against stains from grape jelly, mustard, turmeric, blueberry juice and (for my sanity) wine? View answer

My husband and I are planning a kitchen remodel and are considering putting in butcher block or wood countertops. We've never had wood countertops before and in doing some research found out that there can be a lot of upkeep with oiling monthly. We are also concerned about water damage to the wood around the sink area, or from someone leave a glass of water on the counter that may have some water on the bottom of the glass. Do you have a food-safe product that is also powerful enough for kitchen countertops to handle water and liquids? We may be good at trying to quickly wipe up water from the counter, but kids are another story! Also, how often would it need to be reapplied in the future after the initial application? View answer

I saw a video regarding the difference in color between the AFM SafeCoat Polyureseal BP sheens (gloss is milky white, clear, and the satin and (I assume) matte are colored. The video states that they both dry clear, but the satin and matte may "build up" a color on the surface if more than one coat is used. Here is my question: will the Acrylacq in matte also do this? Is it clear or "muddy" like the satin/matte Polyureseal BP? I have white kitchen cabinets that I want to keep a matte sheen, but not change the color with several coats of sealer. View answer

I am using Densarmour plus drywall. It calls for a high solid primer because the fiberglass has a rougher texture and needs smoothing out. It calls for a 3/8 nap for roller application. will the new drywall primecoat that you sell be thick enough (High solid rating)? Thanks, Dan Barry View answer

I have a Aqua Rain Gravity Filter system bought in 1998 that is 20 inches high, Stainless Steel with 4 filters in it. My second set is wearing down and I'm looking to replace the filters but on my unit the filters are held in place with big white plastic wing nuts underneath. The filters on your site do not show a wing nut, will they fit? and are they the same, but with a different type of nut to hold them to the upper unit? Also being retired now, I have to watch my expenses,my previous replacement set of filters in 2011 was $79.00 I know things go up, so can I use just 2 filters in my unit and seal off the other two holes, and if so do you have plugs that can be used to do so. I would appreciate any answers Thank You for your time.Marty View answer

I stained my raw stairs 4 days ago with oil based Min Wax which still smells, but did not stain dark enough gray. It is either pine or white oak, not sure. Can I use Rubio Oil Plus 2 C over it? I am chem sensitive, so it was a bad decision, but I had no idea organic products existed. Any solutions? View answer

I am interested in using this product on pieces of wood inside a reptile enclosure. It's a high humidity enclosure and I don't want the wood rotting or mold. Would this product keep the wood dry and not harm the animal? The animal wouldn't chew on it or anything. Just crawl against it View answer

working in a very old building (historic); the floor is over an old cellar style basement. Original hardwood floor was covered with 1/2" masonite underlayment. There is a distinct old smell either coming from the basement or resident in the underlayment. Could remove underlayment, but smell will definitely come through now exposed numerous old flooring joints. Considering sealing in the underlayment with a product like this. Whatever we use needs to not only penetrate, but for a layer or coating. What do you think? View answer
