I have cedar railings on my deck. About 8 years ago (when my contractor was dying) he sent a workman to put a sealant on the railings. It looked great for about a month and then grew black mold. If I sand the railings lightly, will your penetrating water proofer / sealer do the job without growing another crop of black mold? Or do I need a fungicidal wash to start? View answer

I have put up paintable wallpaper in my kitchen. I painted it with a pearl metallic water based paint and didn't notice the cancer warning. Now I am wondering if I get your AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP could I brush or roll a coat of this on to seal off the other paint and be able to wipe down any splatters with only 1 coat? I am worried that sanding would be difficult or impossible with the textured wall paper design to do more coats. View answer

I'm thinking of getting an Ikea wardrobe cabinet (Pax), but the sides of the shelves are exposed particle board. The inside of the sidewalls have peg holes for the adjustable shelves. These holes (approx. 1/4" round and deep) are also exposed particle board. Which AFM product would be best to use to seal these? In addition, if I decide to seal the whole cabinet (the Ikea description says it is made of fibreboard and paper foil) which AFM product would I use? Are AFM sealer products completely inert when dry? (i.e. absolutely no smell) View answer

I just finished paneling a 10' x 14' room with knotty pine boards. I will be storing hunting clothes in the room so I don't want chemical smells tainting them. Which product would you most recommend and how many gallons do you think I'll need to cover all four walls (8' floor to ceiling)? Thank you. View answer

Hello. Would this product work on an earthen ( aka adobe) floor? The floor consists of 3 parts sand, 1 part native soil containing clay and finely chopped straw fragments which was then sealed with 5 coats of boiled linseed oil. We're looking to further protect the floor. Thanks View answer

I recently installed untreated pine on the ceiling in my bathroom. I am looking for a nontoxic seal that will protect the wood from water damage/molding etc. I don't intend to stain the wood. I only need to seal it. Is this an appropriate product for that? Thanks in advance. View answer

Hi, I am seeking a plant based/environmental friendly sealer for my wood paintings. I use mineral and earth pigment paints, basically crushed pigment powder mixed with water. Would this be the recommended product to try on my pieces? I've used Acri-Soy in the past and it can smear the paints sometimes due to its consistency. My art is made with 100% plants so everything is an experiment, but I thought I would ask in case there may be a better suggestion. Thank you. View answer

I'm wondering how "semi-transparent" this product is... I need to restain/seal my backyard fence that is older and has different colors to it based on where previous shrubs blocked water from hitting the fence. I am not sure how a clear would look in this situation, but I also don't want my fence to look like I painted it brown; I like seeing the natural grain of the wood. I'm debating between the Caspian Clear and the Acorn Brown. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you! View answer

My husband and I are planning a kitchen remodel and are considering putting in butcher block or wood countertops. We've never had wood countertops before and in doing some research found out that there can be a lot of upkeep with oiling monthly. We are also concerned about water damage to the wood around the sink area, or from someone leave a glass of water on the counter that may have some water on the bottom of the glass. Do you have a food-safe product that is also powerful enough for kitchen countertops to handle water and liquids? We may be good at trying to quickly wipe up water from the counter, but kids are another story! Also, how often would it need to be reapplied in the future after the initial application? View answer
