I have previously used polyurethane to Seal tongue and groove in my house. Obviously it is toxic and the fumes are disgusting. What do you recommend to use on tongue and groove in a bathroom including the shower ceiling that would give me a semi gloss look and the protection i need? View answer

Loving this product so far. However, I'm confused on what's the best protocol for sanding. I've heard that before applying oils/sealers, it's best to sand a little, as it 'roughs up' the surface a bit to allow for better oil penetration. Is this true? Also, on the official "Technical Information and Application" PDF for this product, it states "For best absorbency, all surfaces should be sanded NO FINER than #100". But this leaves the surface fairly rough - can I not sand it more finely, creating a smoother wood surface? Thanks a bunch! View answer

A neighbor made me a mailbox out of nice untreated pine in the shape of a barn. I need a treatment that will seal the mailbox so water doesn't get through to the inside, between each piece of wood used to form the barn shape. He did a terrific job, but I do worry about small leaks. Any suggestions? View answer

I bought an antique painted cabinet, painted green. I want to use it in the kitchen so I want to cover the paint with something. Is AFM SafeCoat Acrylacq a good choice? The description says "Raw wooden stained or previously painted cabinetry," Does that mean it can go on painted wood or wood that was painted and then had the paint removed??? Or is AFM SafeCoat, Polyureseal BP a better choice??? View answer

I have installed pressure treated wood as the beams beneath my kitchen. The beams are at least 24 inches above the ground and have been treated with afm safe coat safe seal or hard seal I'm not sure which. But I had an allergic reaction to the wood chips that got on my sweater and am considering replacing the wood with pine. Would this product be correct for that? The house is in florida and is subject to termite infestation. Please advise. Thanks! View answer

I love the product. But I made a mistake applying it in 2 bedrooms. I left the second coat to dry overnight and it didn't penetrate so now the floors are blistered and bubbled where it pooled and dried. To correct this should I re sand and start over or use mineral spirits to dissolve? Or something else? So bummed that I didn't do my due diligence. But what now? Thank you. View answer

Can I seal unpainted wood toys with either the Polyureseal BP or Hardseal? I know it says non-toxic but I'm not sure if this applies to the liquid or cured state of the finish. Toddlers like to put stuff in their mouth and I need to be sure this is non-toxic when that happens. View answer
