For installation in a bathroom and in order to make in waterproof, the instructions state to apply a polyurethane sealant on expansion joints. Are the expansion joints considers the outside border of the floor (against walls) or is this everywhere the planks meet? How do you apply the adhesive to ensure it is waterproof as the instructions don't answer this? View answer

2 questions: 1. What exactly is the HRT protective surface on the Amorim wise cork tiles? I saw acrylic coating referenced below so is it basically water based poly? How many coats appx? 2. Is there anything I can do to prevent water intrusion/dirt buildup in the cracks between the tiles (other than hire a good installer)? Considering glue down installation to help in this regard. Also saw some other folks have used some kind of adhesive between the tiles on the click lock edges to help them stick/prevent peeling or separation. Any recommendations from you folks/manufacturer? Thank you! View answer

I'm interested in installing Amorim WISE on a second-floor condo. The subfloor is gypcrete. How does the sound insulation of this product (7mm of cork) compare with other cork floating floors (like Wicander) that have less cork but are thicker (10-12mm) due to the thickness of the foam board? Should I not use a vapor barrier on pre existing hardwood floor? The installation instructions state "Existing wood planks, engineered wood boards, OSB panels, drywall elements etc. must not be covered with PE foil acting as a vapour barrier. The area below the floor should also be sufficiently ventilated in an adequate way (back-vented skirting board) to maintain the equilibrium moisture content of the wood planks, engineered wood boards, OSB panels, drywall elements.". Does this mean that I shouldn't use the 6mil underlayment? View answer

If the cork flooring is truly waterproof why do you need a moisture barrier to install over a concrete basement floor? I would be concerned that I would be trapping moisture underneath the floor rather than letting it escape. This escaped moisture would then be sent out using a dehumidifier. I just want to make sure I'm not creating another health risk my trapping the moisture. View answer
