I want to seal only the underside of a galvanized steel stock tank with Dynoseal. it's specs state good adhesion to metal but not specifically galvanized metals. Would it be best to apply this metal primer first then apply the Dynoseal? Are these two products chemically compatible? Is this two step process even necessary? I'm unsure if the Dynoseal will adhere well to the galv steel on it's own. Thank you! View answer

I have some old metal encasement windows that I have sanded most of the rust and old paint. I would like to fix the remaining rust and paint to give an old world look without the windows rusting anymore. Is there a product that I could use to coat the metal with? View answer

I have a carbon steel sheet (lead-free) that will be used for a magnetic board for my kids. The surface is uncoated and bare and will need to be coated to prevent rust from oxidation. My kids will be using magnets and such on it, I want to have a strong coating that will not scratch or take paint/sealant off. Would this be good to use as a primer? What would the best paint and sealant be to used after the primer? This will be indoors if that helps. Thanks. View answer

I would like to order a shoe rack that is described as "Iron frame with satin pewter". This seems vague and it is from china. To be on the safe side, I would like to paint it with something to seal in any off gassing that may occur. Would this product be appropriate for that? I have always thought all these wire storage racks that you get from places like Home Depot are not likely to be toxic and I have many of those, not sure how true that is, but this shoe rack looks to be more of painted finish than the typical wire racks and has 'metal mesh' for shelves. I want to restore some old, neglected garden stick tools (shovels, rakes etc.) I plan to thoroughly de-rust the metal with an electrolysis tank and a Scotch-Brite scrub. I would then like to recoat with rust-inhibiting, abrasion resistant products that won't contaminate my soil when they inevitably do wear off. Does this product fit my needs? What about a top coat recommendation? View answer

I want to paint some foil faced insulation. It was recommended that I use a water based self etching primer. I can't find one that is water based and all are very toxic. This is for my son to live in so I don't want toxic. Will this work on the metal foil that's on insulation? If so, can I cover it with regular interior paint? Thanks View answer

I ordered a new cast iron radiator (steam radiator) which comes pre-primed by the manufacturer. They said that without painting it with a "Non alkalized oil based enamel" the radiator would be off-gassing toxins and it Shouldn't be used until it's painted. Would this plus normal AFM paint work for this issue? I don't want toxic fumes/off-gassing in my baby's room where the new radiator is going. View answer
