EARTH DAY FLASH SALE 2026 Q&A

Can I paint my old concrete basement floor with this? Does it require a primer? I have sealed small cracks that naturally form in the basement concrete through time. Our concrete was poured in the 70's and is still in good shape. Looking to make it look nicer. Not heavily used and will put throw rugs or carpet in areas over it. I am chemically sensitive. Will this work for our basement? View answer

I ordered a sample of the Hansa Silicate and am testing a small patch on our basement foundation. I did want to ask a technical question. We have a house built in 1904. The foundation is stacked stone and has been tuck pointed. When we purchased the home, our inspector indicated we should never waterproof the walls because they need to breathe. From what I understand, this product can be painted onto the stone to help reduce the dust, but will still allow the walls to breathe. Can someone confirm? I would hate to paint all the walls and have it compromise the structural foundation, which is in fantastic shape. View answer

We have put in for plywood flooring and stained with minwax stain. I'm looking for a durable varnish similar to oil based poly. We are looking for something super durable that dries hard to protect our flooring that does not require us to leave our house for days due to off gassing. Do you have any products you'd recommend? I used safe coat to paint my concrete floors. I applied two coats over a month ago yet I find the surface still feels slightly tacky in spots and that it's attracting footprints and picking up dirt from the bottom of my feet. Do you have any suggestions for sealants or ways to treat this? View answer

So, according to your installation guidelines, your surface prep instructs "If water drops fail to penetrate quickly, surface may need additional attention to create proper surface profile." Unfortunately for us, our garage floor was sealed, 20+ years ago, and still holds up quite well repelling liquids. This space will specifically be used for living area. I've done a LOT of research, and it seems the acid etch will not be sufficient to create a proper surface profile. Can you verify that my only option would be to use a concrete grinder to adequately prepare the floor surface for application of this product? Thanks! View answer
