I own a coin laundry with terrazzo floors. There's a small seating area where I'm looking for a product to create a 5'x8' water & slip resistant "area rug." Would Marmoleum Click work? It can't be a tripping hazard and I'm concerned about the edges if the Marmoleum is only used in a small area. View answer

Can the SafeCoat Polyureseal BP be applied over a water-based urethane modified alkyd paint with the look and feel of an alkyd/oil finish? This is a hybrid type paint trying to intermix the benefits of oil and water-based products. Specifically, I am using Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel paint on bedroom furniture. It is water-based, but they explained to me that it is water encapsulating an oil to allow for easier application and clean-up, but what remains is the oil. So I'm wondering if I can use the Polyureseal BP over it? Thanks. View answer

I am sampling one AC vent in my home. The vent grills have what appears to be dark mold on them. I would like to take a sample from the surface of the grills (visual mold) and also attach the petri dish to the same vent. Can I put the surface mold on 1/2 the petri dish and leave the other half empty when I attach the petri dish to the AC vent. If I need to use 2 tests, one for the air flow coming out of the AC vent (attach to the AC vent) and one for the surface mold, is it ok to swipe the surface of both the grills and the inner wall of the same AC vent. I didn't know if I need 2 test kits for sampling the AC grills and the vent wall on the inside of the AC grills. It is black with suspected mold growth too, unless it is just dust. View answer

I used safe coat to paint my concrete floors. I applied two coats over a month ago yet I find the surface still feels slightly tacky in spots and that it's attracting footprints and picking up dirt from the bottom of my feet. Do you have any suggestions for sealants or ways to treat this? View answer

Does this tolerate heat? I would like to caulk the gap between our gas fireplace surround and the firebox. The caulk will not be exposed to any flames as it will be outside of the firebox, but the outside of the firebox metal can get quite hot. Will this caulk tolerate heat if it is bordering/touching this hot metal? Thanks View answer

I use 1.5" rigid (styrofoam) foam insulation boards in the window wells of our passive solar home to keep the sun out in the summer. However the styrofoam sheds and makes a mess on the floor. I'm looking for something to seal the boards so that they will not shed. Will the SafeCoat Safe Seal product be the best choice. I do not want something that will remain sticky as I take them on and off periodically. Please advise? View answer

I'm in the process of using lead encapsulation paint to cover my antique window frames, however the paint I need to use is very matte similar to primer, so I'm looking for something to put on top of this lead encapsulation paint that has a gloss. What products would work? Could I use just Ecos gloss paint or would a gloss top coat like the Safecoat hardseal be better? View answer

I'm applying a Marmorino water-resistant Venetian plaster on my backsplash and I'm wondering about the feasibility of using it behind the stove as well. I need a sealer that is water, grease, and heat resistant. Would this product be recommended for that? More specifically, if it would stand up to the heat that it would be exposed to being behind a decently high-powered gas range stove. Thank you! View answer

We are looking for flooring for the main room at our beach cottage (kitchen/dining/living combines) and are wondering whether we should choose Marmoleum or waterproof cork. We noted that the waterproof cork guarantee doesn't apply to sand damage, but think the Marmoleum may be similarly vulnerable. Any thoughts on the best option? View answer
