I'm intrigued by the possibilities of this floor. Are there room scenes to give a sense of scale? As this is not a click floor, can you cut the boards to be whatever length to do a customized chevron pattern? Is there precedent in mixing the two chevron floor panels together to add zig zag color patterns? Thank you for all you do, I am new here but absolutely love your website! View answer

I am doing a down to the studs remodel of a frame house in a humid environment, and plan to paint the entire frame structure with CIM&MI. Given the highly alkaline finished PH, what is the long term effect on all the fasteners it comes in contact with, such as nails. Also, what are the risks to tradesmen working on the structure after that, drilling holes, sawing, installing new framing, etc? View answer

I would like to order a shoe rack that is described as "Iron frame with satin pewter". This seems vague and it is from china. To be on the safe side, I would like to paint it with something to seal in any off gassing that may occur. Would this product be appropriate for that? I have always thought all these wire storage racks that you get from places like Home Depot are not likely to be toxic and I have many of those, not sure how true that is, but this shoe rack looks to be more of painted finish than the typical wire racks and has 'metal mesh' for shelves. I read on ECOS website in the SDS for this paint and their interior paints that this paint has suspected toxic ingredients and carcinogenic ingredients and that only 68% of the ingredients are of unknown toxicity. I am surprised that ECOS and Green Buildings Supply's Company promote their products as non toxic when the SDS on their website state otherwise? Please explain. Thank you. View answer

I applied this product about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago on some outdoor furniture. I am ready to re-apply. The instructions make it sound like you have to sand when you re-apply. But, it sounds like, from another answer, maybe not. Is using the Rubio cleaner sufficient? Or, how does know if you need to fully sand or not? It seems pretty vague and the product instructions only say to sand if previously coated. They do not give you ANY information on the maybe/maybe not part. View answer

I have an exterior wood sign I want to paint. If I use the AFM Concrete Paint would that stand up better to the elements than the normal Exterior Satin paint? I live in Arizona, so abrasive sand winds are a thing I deal with, and the sun/heat. What would help me get the most life out of a painted sign? View answer

How long after doing the three-step system will I know how much of the odor is blocked? After step 3 has dried will I immediately know if it worked well enough? We bought a new house with a strong new carpet smell. If sealing doesn't remove enough of the smell we will replace the flooring. View answer

I am a single pregnant mom and trying to be careful with paint and primers. What do you recommend I use to prime the shelving unit and then which paint to purchase? I have a wood shelf unit in our entryway (place for boots, umbrellas, etc.) that I want to paint. Does a specific paint go w/ a specific primer? Do I need to "seal" anything with a different product before I paint? Or after I paint? (Sorry for all the questions, love your store!) View answer

I painted a gourd with dyes & then coated it with an acrylic clear coat. I didn't like what I painted afterwards & painted the poly whey coat on outside to make it shiny to see if that helped. No. Other than it did it's job of coating & shine. I'd love to be able to paint over it all & not waste the gourd. Can I paint with acrylic paint over the dried poly whey product? If so I plan to coat that after with the poly whey product. I like it very much! View answer

Our house was built in 1967. The trim board in the basement is still just painted with the original black, flat finish paint which I tested as positive for lead with a test kit purchased from a local big box store. There may be some type of white primer under the black as I can see white under the black on some spots on a door frame where the paint has rubbed off. Would the AFM Safecoat Transitional Primer with two top coats of AFM Zero VOC paint serve to encapsulate the lead based paint? View answer
