I own Colorado's first certified Built Green home, so you can imagine how hard I tried to get the painters I hired to use zero VOC paint. Despite my best efforts, a new employee of the company inexplicably used EXTERIOR paint on the INTERIOR of my home. !!!!! I am VERY concerned and distressed. 1) Will 2 coats of SafeSeal over the Sherwin (exterior) Superpaint help stop the off gassing of dangerous chemicals/VOCs? 2) Can I use zero VOC Sherwin Williams Promar 200 over the SafeSeal and exterior paint? I recall that you said there's no difference between Safe Seal and Hard Seal when it comes to reducing off gassing... that the only difference is the finish... did I understand that correctly? The boards have a shiny surface--only the edges are raw. I don't know whether this is a feature of MDF or whether they have been coated with acrylic.
