Looking for the best wood sealant for some wooden baby toys we have made for our children. we used raw unfinished wood and then painted them with the liquid watercolor. My toddler will play with them now just fine that they are all dried out but my issues comes from my 8 month old who desperately wants to put everything in her mouth. Even though they are dry if they get wet some of the colour leaches off. Looking for a way to protect their toys, and protect the colour on their toys so that both ages can play with them safely and without winding up looking like the colour of the rainbow when my youngest teethes on everything she can get ahold of. What can I use? View answer

Is this product appropriate to seal a new, outdoor (under patio roof, will not be rained on) freshly assembled, painted by manufacturer, metal planter box? I want to seal the edges and prevent leaks at side seams for watering plants. If this product is not the proper one, do you have something that is? View answer

Hi there! We just installed maple butcher block countertops. We used a tung oil to stain them but want to ensure the surface is protected and would love a little shine and smoothing of the surface. What would you recommend that would be safe when in contact with food? And achieve the finish necessary to protect a countertop. Side note, our house is well lived in; 3 small children :) thank you in advance! View answer

I was hoping to use this on patio furniture, but I see that it is interior only. The furniture is under a deck and will not be directly rained on, but will be exposed to extreme humidity (I live in Mississippi) and the occasional rain blowing in. Will this product work or is there another that is recommended? View answer

I used Safecoat oil wax finish on my raw knotty alder doors that turned out beautiful but darker than expected. I want to oil additional raw ponderosa pine but the oil doesn't turn out dark enough. Is there any way to add some color to the oil to try to match the pine? I have tried samples of your other stains on the wood to try to match the doors, but nothing is the right color. Any ideas? The pine is really light color. View answer

I plan to sand some of the top finish from my dining room table (because of light scratches), what product could I use to put a new top layer of finish/gloss on since I do not know what was originally on it? I don't know if it was an oil or water based product that was originally on the table when I bought it 15 years ago. I see the warnings not to use a water based product if the top coat was originally oil based, but I have no way to tell what is on it, so what can I use in that situation? Thank you! View answer

Hi There, I am considering repainting my existing laminate countertops. If I am not cutting on this product, is it okay to use it on countertops? I'm specifically wondering about scratches or durability, and heat resistance (i.e. setting a hot pan on the surface). Thank you! View answer

We recently had a live edge walnut table made for us and the builder finished it with Watco Danish Oil. We have three small children and don't feel the finish is hardy enough for us and we want something that is safe for our kids to eat off of and will be water repellant. There are a couple knots in the wood and small gaps in the board seams that need to be filled as well to prevent crumbs and liquid from entering - will I be able to use this product for this purpose as well or do you have another one you might recommend? Need outdoor stain for front steps and porch. Wood is brand new, fir and pine. Will these two wood types absorb the stain similarly? (fir for stairs, pine for porch; like the Sutton Grey color). How many years does the stain last? When it's time to reapply, can we apply the stain over the existing Rubio Monocoat, or do we have to sand off to reapply? View answer

I will soon be building a small barn that will house 8 chickens and 3 Nigerian Dwarf goats. We will put in a plywood floor (with some insulation beneath). On top of the plywood, I'll lay down horse mats and then the hay. My contractor has asked me to find a product to safely (for the animals) seal the plywood. Would one or your products work? We might also paint the plywood, although since it will be covered up, that doesn't make sense. View answer
