I ordered a new cast iron radiator (steam radiator) which comes pre-primed by the manufacturer. They said that without painting it with a "Non alkalized oil based enamel" the radiator would be off-gassing toxins and it Shouldn't be used until it's painted. I am going to use this in a basement. The subfloor/ceiling is rough sawn cedar and sanding would be labor intensive, we are not able to do that and would just rather paint over them as is. There are stains from mold that was treated with concrobium, and we want to use either the coating or primer over it. We will likely use a bright white paint over the first coat but are undecided about that at this point. What would you recommend we use? The contractors we had out to look were going to use a toxic encapsulation coating after mold removal and we want to be sure the mold is not just sandwiched, but gone. View answer
