Polyureseal BP satin finish used on top of 2 coats of satin will make a slightly cloudy look. In other words, if you use gloss, then gloss, then satin you will see the wood beneath it more clearly. That's the only reason for using gloss, gloss first.
You certainly can use three coats of satin with the same protection against abrasion and moisture. There is no harm in that. The requirement for use of gloss on the first two coats is purely aesthetic.
