You could use the AFM Polyureseal BP, which is a clear encapsulating sealer. It is extremely durable as well, and will provide abrasion resistance. It can be applied to clean, dry wood. Since it dries clear, you will see the wood underneath. The Poly is a topical sealer that will add a protective, smooth coating on top. Something that old will probably require some serious sanding to open the pores, remove imperfections and clean things up. Be sure to read installation instructions before application. 2-3 coats are recommended.
