Provided you are going over a water-based paint is non-glossy you can use either the Polyureseal EXT or Polyureseal BP over that for countertops. See note below. If it is a glossy paint, then you would need to rough it up a little with sandpaper so the Polyureseal has a surface it can grip onto. NOTE: While countertops are not included on the official usage for this product (made chiefly for floors/walls), we have had customers use it for countertops with some success. It *could* work for you if applied and maintained correctly to your painted countertop. Beyond following the application instructions, we at Green Building Supply recommend: - 4 coats, minimum - Always use a cutting board to cut food on and trivets for hot pots (never cut directly on your countertop) - Remove water/condensation promptly from under flatware and glasses, or use coasters, placemats, etc. - Food oils or acid spills must be cleaned up quickly - Do not expect your polyuresealed coated countertop to perform like quartz or stone - For cleaning use a mild all-purpose cleaner like SafeChoice, Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser or Blissfully Clean Good luck!
