I would like to use this on my air dry clay crafts. Will this help prevent chipping?

Acriglaze was formulated to work primarily with paint and faux finishes, not with clay sculpture. As said in the spec sheet "Ideal for restoring old finishes to their original brilliance, sealing and preserving painted work, faux finishing." It would not provide extra durability to clay.
