I have new masonite shelves that I need to stop the voc fumes from. Will be indoors. Preferably one coat, if it is primer. It will be in closet, so looks are not important. Would like it to be white. Also do I need to sand? Thank you for your help. Which Safecoat product would you recommend?

If it is raw Masonite, they claim there is no formaldehyde in their products. If you feel otherwise, then you can use one coat of AFM Transitional Primer. Wait 24 hours and then apply two coats of AFM Semi-Gloss paint. This combination will block most all VOCs once cured in a week or so.
