To Inhibit Mold Growth on Exterior Raw Wood, you would want to use one of the following: 1) Vermont Naturals PolyWhey Penetrating Water Proofer - Clear, when dry2) Vermont Naturals PolyWhey Penetrating Wood Stain - 20 Color Stain Options with a Clear Top Coat, when dry 3) Caliwel Industrial Mold and Mildew Inhibitor - White, when dryThe AFM Safe Seal is made for encapsulating toxic off-gassing, especially formaldehyde, from raw plywood, particle board, and press wood. This product dries to a dark brown color and does have a sticky/rubbery feel when dry and is not meant for wood that will be touched or subject to cleaning (it's very much meant for behind-the-scenes application, such as under the soil line of raised planter beds). If you are looking for a product that seals in toxic off-gassing of sealed or unsealed: 1) wood2) pressed wood or3) latex-painted surfaces...Then the AFM Hard Seal is the product to use. It has a clear, semi-gloss finish when dry.
