We just built a butcher block table out of an old piece of a bar top which has a strong paraffin odor. We have used mineral oil and a lavender essential oil to reduce the odor. Sorry, it will not. All oils are vapor permeable and will not block VOC emissions or odors. The best thing is to sand the top to remove the paraffin and the odor. Then apply the AFM Naturals Oil.The only product that seems to work over oils is shellac. Zinsser Clear Bin shellac sealer works for most odors but emits a high level of VOC apx. 440 g/l which will eventually dissipate. This product is available at most hardware and box stores.
