It sounds like you want abrasion resistance. For cribs, there are two possible routes to take. Depending on what the crib is made out of or currently covered with (my recommendation in this paragraph would work over raw wood, or water-based paint covered wood, or water-based stain over wood) AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP has the best abrasion resistance of all the products we sell, it was made for floors. It is safe and non-toxic, however, it is not food-grade.If you are concerned about the crib occupant chewing on the crib construction, you may want to go the food-grade oil route, which will not provide much in the way of abrasion resistance (these are penetrating oils, which have no topical surface coating), unfortunately, but as these products are made with food-grade ingredients there is no risk of accidental ingestion making the child ill. Applying these oil products will only work over raw wood, so if your crib is painted or stained you would need to sand off that finish in order to re-cover the crib with one of these oils, either AFM Safecoat Clear Penetrating Oil or Bioshield Herbal Oil #2.
